PawSox activates Chris Carpenter (TIA) and Alex Hassan (DL). With the CVaz promotion, the team has a full roster going into the playoffs (in other words, I wouldn't expect Doyle, Hernandez, Couch, Linares or Thomas to come up for the playoffs).

GCL Nats score three off Jalen Williams. Currently, GCL trails 4-1, end 5th. A loss ends the season.

David Chester hits his 19th home run (6th with Salem). He's tied with Bryce Brentz (17 with Pawtucket/2 with GCL) for the minor league organizational lead.

Let's face it, a GCL Sox victory would rank up there with Agincourt as one of history's great upsets ...

DSL and GCL seasons over. Both ran into good teams but more importantly both had good seasons with interesting prospects on the teams.

Yeah, well ... the Spartans ended up all getting killed at Thermopylae, and Athens was overrun. So, good fight, but doomed in the end. Just like the GCL Sox. [side note: it was the naval battle at Salamis that really saved Greece]

Owens - 1BB, 8K's in 5.2 innings. Oh, and 6H and 3ER's, 2HR's. Decent outing. Love the K/BB ratio - second outing in a row

He settled down nicely after that. Mookie has a three hit game in the seventh including a double. He's hitting a cool .500 in his last ten games (with 6 BB and just 1 K to boot). Swihart has a double and a walk in that same game. He's flirting with a .300 average for the season. Cecchini reached base five times today with a single, double and three walks. He struck out in his other plate appearance. Thats his third double in two games. Marrero also had two hits and a walk.

Looks like Myles Smith and Mike Meyers are joining Lowell in Aberdeen.
Also looks like both Allday and King got hurt on Friday - both left the game and haven't played since.

Want to add this Chris, just something that noticed Friday after Myles 3IP at Tampa. Most guys wrap up there arm, or do nothing even after throwing. Myles.. He had 2 of the HUGEST ice packs wrapped around both his shoulder and his elbow I have ever seen and he kept packing them there until after the game was over, they were still on when he boarded the bus, 2 hours after the game was over. That guy is taking care of his shoulder/elbow.

Cecchini has now drawn 94 walks in 454 AB this year. That's a pretty solid walk rate. Is he a lead off guy or a #2 maybe? He looks like he may be suited for being an almost ideal #2.

They have him slotted as a #2 in Portland's lineup right now. To me, he is potentially most effective there at this point in his career.

In prior game I saw he hit one to the 400' mark in center. Owens was throwing his FB at 87-88. That is consistent with what he has shown at Portland according to stadium personnel. No swings & misses with FB that I saw. Exceptional deception with off-speed. Three pitches with good separation. FB 87-88, change at 76-77 and curve at 68. Not sure how this projects at ML level if he doesn't add some pop. Almanzar played DH then 3rd in two games. In the field he has something of an 'entitled' look.
