Dear people who didn't vote for Linares,
You may want to look at the numbers again...

His k to bb ratio sucks.

Yeah, the difference in discipline numbers usually would have swayed me to Mookie, but it's hard to argue with 4 HR, 4 2B, and a 3B in 8 games.

You're joking right? His slugging was nearly double Betts's.

You're joking right? His slugging was nearly double Betts's. JCL had to be close for player of the month for August as well, like a very close second to Mookie?

I mean, we can have a philosophical conversation about what player of the week means, but I'll always get more excited about the guy who shows a repeatable skill-set like walking and NOT STRIKING OUT EVER over the burst of power.

I mean, we can have a philosophical conversation about what player of the week means, but I'll always get more excited about the guy who shows a repeatable skill-set like walking and NOT STRIKING OUT EVER over the burst of power. The charge to voters is to judge who had the best performance. Not who had a performance that makes you think they have a better future. I could see if it were kind of close - Betts with the slight OBP lead he has versus Linares having a much smaller SLG advantage. However, if I told you that you can pick between two players, one who we know will perform like Linares did this week, and one who we know will perform like Betts did, there is no way that you would choose Betts. Go ahead and vote how you want, but again, the point isn't to vote for the performance that shows a guy is a better prospect, which is pretty much what you just said, albeit in different words.
