Saltalamacchia is one of the worst hitters I've ever seen. Just an absolute guess hitter up there, and it's killing the Red Sox. He better not be in a Red Sox uni after this season. I would actually put Middlebrooks ahead of him on that

Well it's the second inning and the Red Sox got to the bullpen. Peavy needs to step up and the Red Sox should have ample oppurtunities to score the rest if this game.

Not confidence-inspiring, Salty. Hopefully it cements into the minds of the FO that this guy isn't worth any LT commitment period. The bat is all or (far too often) nothing and the glove is awful. Give him a QO and hope he passes onto somebody else.

Wow, we cant lose now, if for no other reason it may validate that nonsense by Maddon Right now he looks like a genius. For Drew smoking one right to the 1st baseman? Nah, he still looks like a moron.

- Napoli is having some serious brain cramps this series. Would have been intriguing to see Carp get the start tonight. - Drew should probably hit above Salty right, considering he's a much better hitter? I guess that'd be more plausible if there was a RHH to play SS on the bench to pinch-hit late. - Yunel is obnoxious. - HUGE inning for Peavy there. Not confidence-inspiring, Salty. Hopefully it cements into the minds of the FO that this guy isn't worth any LT commitment period. The bat is all or (far too often) nothing and the glove is awful. Give him a QO and hope he passes onto somebody else.Certainly the best case scenario. Him back for 1 more year would fine too if he accepts, but that K% and BABIP is really going to catch up to him and crush his value. He's got to be really looking for a multi year offer this offseason.

Maddon knew that Hellickson would be mess up with base loaded & pull him out so quickly. His decision turned out correct ones. The Red Sox simply blew it with the opporunity. I'm pissing off.

That quick half-inning by Peavy was much needed, at least for me. Momentum may not actually matter on the field, but it makes me feel a hell of a lot better.

At least Peavy looks good and we got Hell boy out of there. It was just bad luck - Drew got some good wood on that ball. We will likely see Wright and Moore on short rest - ok by me.

A lot of hard contact off Peavy here. Not encouraging.

Well, I guess I shouldn't have tuned in Thanks for jinxing it, jerk. Totally my bad. Went back to drinking good wine now like when they got the bases loaded ... worked for Peavy?

A lot of hard contact off Peavy here. Not encouraging. That's Peavy, fly ball pitcher. Lives and dies by the HR.

Great AB there by Will. We've already burned through Hell boy and Wright. Moore on short rest is ok by me but he will likely fly through the Nava-Salty-Drew portion of our line up.

He changed the pitcher for second time! Is he too panic by the elimination situation?

Maddon is an evil genius...I think this was the plan all allong to have Moore in by the third
Edit- The veteran team looks to be unraveling a little

Middlebrooks should have been running hard all the way, but it's tough to figure that out mid-stride when the defender with the ball is right in front of you.

OK, that's actually good managing there by Maddon. Use Wright to get out of the jam and give Moore time to warm up

Maddon is an evil genius...I think this was the plan all allong to have Moore in by the third Didn't someone in the game 3 thread call this? I kind of buy it - start Hellickson, and the second he gets within an inch of trouble, get him out and bring in the lefty to face the lineup keyed to face the righty. Was probably hoping to steal more than 2.1 innings out of it, but hey, that's still 2.1 innings he didn't have to use Moore on short rest.

Are you guys seriously getting on Middlebrooks there? Holy shit. "WHY DIDN'T HE JUST RUN RIGHT INTO THE TAG BY ZOBRIST? ?" That's how you're taught to react in that situation. Try to get the fielder to try and tag you so that maybe the other guy can get on behind you. EDIT: I have no idea why that's a frown emoticon. It's supposed to be the word "are"

Sweet game plan there Ells. Yeah, really. New pitcher in an unfamiliar role, you have a man on first and you swing at the first pitch? This is just brutal.
