Just remarkable. Was at the Pats game for Brady today. Got home around the 5th and witnessed one of the greatest single game comebacks of all time.
This entire day is just so surreal right now

I turned the Pats game off today after Brady threw that interception in the last minutes of the game. They came back and won. I just turned this game off. It may be OK. You are all quite welcome.

This day didn't actually happen, right? Like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and it's going to be Sunday morning before any of this happened?

Before the series the biggest downfall of the Tigers was their defense. They managed to go 17 innings before it hurt them, and it started with Iggy, though Fielder did absolutely nothing to help him in the Gomes single and on the Salty foul out. Just a complete meltdown in every facet for the Tigers

That Big Papi homerun was one of the best plays I've seen in a long time. You can't write drama better. Two out grandslam down 4. The OF misses the catch by mere inches giving all he has only to tumble over the wall full force. The ball is caught by the bull pen catcher who doesn't even move, just raises his glove and catches it. That is ESPN top play #1. Awesome. Big "Clutch" Papi.

Big Papi needs his statue before he retires. The Man is as clutch as clutch gets.

If they had a 3b capable of moving more than 1 step in either direction, even when healthy? Iglesias may not have been playing as far over towards 3b as he was and the ball would have been a clean single, or the 3b would have had a chance at it. look again if you can at where the ball was hit. That (to me) wasn't anything any kind of normal, even terrific SS had any business touching.
It's got to be an absolute nightmare for leyland having to manage a team with liabilities on the defense, such as Cabby, Fielder and Peralta butchering plays and having others attempt to cover them up with them moving out of position some in the attempt.

He shouldn't have made the throw with an immovable object at 1B for them. The major faults defensively in the inning are Fielders, no question.

Yeah. Throw was a poor choice. Just noticed that NESN has been hammering away on it also the past few minutes and showing the play. All 3 of them at the desk are blaming that tub of lard for not even attempting to block the throw.

I turned the Pats game off today after Brady threw that interception in the last minutes of the game. They came back and won. I just turned this game off. It may be OK. No comment necessary ... Several Sox hitters mentioned how unpredictable the pitch sequencing from Sanchez and Scherzer had been. Knowing how well the Sox prepare, the Tigers may have examined their previous tendencies and gone out of their way to change them up. That would go a long, long way to explaining what we saw, especially the called third strikes. It's essentially pitch sequencing jujutsu, where you take the opponents' talent at figuring out what you're likely to do, and use it against them.

So Ortiz puts the team on his back and carries them forward... again. Are we ready to revive that off-season discussion about his HoF creds, yet?

I heard Ortiz talking about that while driving home from run against the game. The guys need to watch a lot of video tape between now and game 3 and adjust their approach accordingly. Certainly it will help with guys like Ellsbury and Victorino on base as you certainly can run against the a Tigers. Tonight's game showed two of the big weaknesses of the Tigers being their bullpen and defense. Also great job by the Red Sox bullpen which shut down the Tigers while the Red Sox fought their way back into the game.

So Ortiz puts the team on his back and carries them forward... again. Are we ready to revive that off-season discussion about his HoF creds, yet? I think that is a dream of only Red Sox fans Norm. Forget those back room whispers of pas PED use.. That isn't it.. It's the "well, he's just a DH" that cost him a MVP trophy at least 1 time before and also possibly still a longevity thing. Yes.. Rice wasn't dominant except for a 4-6 year window and was "technically" a DH playing LF, also a DH for a few seasons, but he did play in the field most of his career. THEN there are guys like Dwight Evans on the outside looking in, Jimmy Kaat, Tim Raines, Jack Morris. Not saying any of those guys deserve it any more, but it's like the league gives special treatment to some over others in some cases where stats matter, or are better even on some looking in and have not been elected.

To me he is one of the top five players of this era, the last 15 years or so. I cannot think of another player who has meant as much to his team, and who has played such an enormous role in the team's success, as Ortiz. He should be a lock for the HOF, but Edgar Martinez isn't there, and he deserves it as well. There still is prejudice against DHs.
