Meh. The scouting reports make him sound like a long reliever which doesn't sound it was worth throwing $4 million at.

Meh. The scouting reports make him sound like a long reliever which doesn't sound it was worth throwing $4 million at. On the surface one would have to agree. His stats are not very exciting. The article does say that he operates in the low to mid 90s which is discrepant to the positive from the first report above.

It looks like he's mostly been a starter the last few years. Maybe the idea is to convert him to the pen so he can cut down to 2 pitches he locates best and dial up the velocity.
It doesn't count against the cap so if he has enough potential to get a $4m deal, I like adding more talent to the mix without giving anything up.

One report suggested he's added more velocity since being in the States. If his stuff plays up in relief it's worth it. Plus, 4m is pocket change when it's outside the cap numbers. People always devalue relief pitching because of the number of innings they pitch, then realize bullpens often win in the playoffs.

www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Dalier_HinojosaThat link says we signed him to a multi year deal for $25.4 million. All the other links I saw said we signed him to a $4 million bonus and the details of the deal were not known or they just say signing bonus. If that number is accurate it means this move carries much more risk. Any of the gurus here have contacts at baseball reference to see if this is a misprint or if this is the contract total? If so how many years would it be for? We would already control the player for six years through arbitration making the player 33-34 at the end of the process. Sent from my SGH-T999 using proboards

The br bullpen is a wiki with very few contributors. It isn't br and without links you have no real reason to believe it.

The Baseball-Reference source is a wiki and thus can be edited by anyone. Literally every other media source has the bonus reported as $4.25m. It is likely just a typo (25.4 = 4.25).

The pitcher giving up the two jonrones to Alfredo Despeigne in this video is Hinojosa apparently.

Hey, hey! Time for a little "magic". We need some devious medical hotshot to splice some of those control genes into Webster, no? Dalier Webster? (or Allen Hinojosa?) Come to think of it, that sort of thing is done all the time, these days, isn't it?

Here's a positive scouting report on Hinojosa:The organization always needs intriguing bullpen arms with options, especially since Wilson and Britton have seemingly taken a step back this year. Hinojosa is one to watch. ADD: in particular, he seems to have turned the corner lately. Since June 21st, he's got 9 IP with a 10:3 K/BB, 2 H, 2 ER.
