Is there any package that would get the Astros to give up George Springer (a la Myers-Shields)? I think he could be the perfect AAA-midseason MLB starter for this club.
Would a package headlined by Doubront, Ranaudo or Webster with more tossed in be possible?

Let's answer this first though: why WOULD they trade Springer? What's their motivation?
For example, in the Myers-Shields trade, KC thought it could compete this year. Clearly, this wouldn't be in play for Houston, who is playing for the future.

Clearly, this wouldn't be in play for Houston, who is playing for the future. I think you have more respect for Dayton Moore than I do (I think he was simply playing for his job). Here is my thinking: - They traded for Dexter Fowler, so it would appear that they would be moving Fowler to RF (or moving Fowler to LF?) which slightly diminishes his value - They have young OFers already in their lineup (not suggesting that Hoes, Grossman or Krauss would block Fowler - just pointing out that they are young and weren't complete train-wrecks last year) - They could use young pitching as their current crop seems underwhelming, at least to me (with the exception of McCullers). This is clearly a long-shot as high-end prospect-for-prospect trades are rare. But this thought was spawned from the Dexter Fowler acquisition - but he may be only a short-term rental. If the Red Sox offer any pitcher plus a B-/B prospect, do the Astros consider it?

The Astros aren't trading any of their young impact talent so they can be a 75 win team in 2014. There is zero reason for the Astros to make that kind of a deal. Zero. Dayton Moore is no brainiac but he isn't that stupid.

doesn't make sense for Houston to deal him at all.

Nope. But I will preview that Springer is discussed on the next episode of the podcast, which will probably come out Friday.

I guess the big question is 'what is Springer's value/ranking at this point?'
Last I saw he was generally in the mid-30s, but those polls aren't recent. Has he done so well to put himself into the top-15 or top-10 range?
I'll make sure to checkout the podcast.
