Since being traded to the Red Sox, Saltalamacchia has a wRC+ of 94. Ike Davis has a career 116 wRC+. Their production is not even close, especially if you consider upside (Davis had a monster 2011 in limited ABs). Saltalamacchia is also a pending free agent and a bad defensive player.
I would trade Saltalamacchia and Brentz for Davis in a heartbeat.

Now that Mike Napoli is a free agent without incumbrances, I'd zero in on him as our premier offseason free agent acquisition. Since he can play 1B and C, I'd trade Lavarnway in a package to obtain Davis from the Mets.
This allows for a L/R platoon at C withSaltalamacchia, and Napoli filling in at first against lefthanders, occasionally, to give Ike a blow . Lavarnway could be more in demand by the Mets as he's younger than Salty and has put up good offensive numbers in the minors.

For whom? Salty is coming off a poor season average wise, though his power numbers were up. And, he's a free agent at the end of the season.
Lavarnway is controllable at reasonable $$ and has a bigger upside. I'm sure the Mets would prefer him. Of course, the Sox would have to add to that to make an Ike Davis trade. Maybe absorb an unfavorable contract like Jason Bay?
Napoli would give the Sox splits at C and 1B, and DH if Papi needs a breather.

Ike Davis is exactly the type of player the Sox should be looking to acquire this off-season. He still has 4 years of control left and is just entering his prime (not that I get why the Mets would want to trade him but they are the Mets, so...)
That said, he was a much better player on the road at .262/.335/.566/.902 as opposed to at Citi with .188/.277/..342/.618, which would obviously bode well moving to a hitter friendly park in Fenway.
The Mets have just an insane number of holes and not much in their minor league system beyond Wheeler and Familia. I would absolutely be on board for trading them Salty, (or Vazquez if they prefer the prospect) Workman (or Pimentel) and a high upside guy like Jacobs or DeLaCruz for Davis.
Say they elected for Salty, Workman and Jacobs - they would likely have Workman and Jacobs added to their top prospects somewhere in the 6 to 10 range.
If the Mets were looking for a player like Middlebrooks, Lavarnway or RDLR, no way. But, if the names mentioned in my post and up-thread are in line, this should already be done from the Sox perspective.

Seems like the Mets and Sox are lined up fairly well for a mini blockbluster type trade where they send us Harvey and Davis and we send them relief pitching, catching, Ellsbury and some depth for their minor leagues.

Salty + Kalish i would prefer to trading Lavarnway.

I think we're undervaluing Davis a bit here. His season line in 2012 was hampered by an atrocious first two months (from 4/5 to 6/8, .158/.234/.273, .265/.347/.565 the rest of the way).
You're not getting Ike Davis for the players being discussed here: The Sox' two catchers are Salty, who had an obp below .300, and Lavarnway, who is a hit-only catcher who didn't hit last year. Nobody knows what Ellsbury is at this point, but you're not getting him valued at 2011 levels - he was .278/.314/.379 with 14 steals in 67 games after returning from the DL last year. The relief pitching is above-average flotsam, and "minor league depth" doesn't mean anything unless you're talking at least a couple of the Sox top 8 guys.

IYou're not getting Ike Davis for the players being discussed here:. You got to give value to get value. So what would filling two significant holes on our roster be worth to the Mets? Rubby, Morales, Miller, Workman and Sweeney or Kalish?

Looks like you can scratch Ike off your wish list. According to Joel Sherman of the NY Post, the Mets have decided to keep him and slot Duda into LF after his wrist surgey recovery.
