After seeing Patrmac04 prospect list ranking in which users ranked high level prospect to their apparent level of impact to the big club by next year, I thought it would be interesting to come up with two different prospect lists, one that just rates prospects on their potential (floor be damned) and vice versa. For example, I would have Xander as my number one for both simply because he has the best chance to make an impact at the major league level and has the highest upside of anyone in the system to be a stud. Now, someone like Trey Ball might be 2-3 on the potential list, but left off entirely of the floor list as he's more of a project with no real predictability at this point. Just killing some time in my day.
Potential list: 1. Xander Bogaerts 2. Henry Owens 3. Trey Ball 4. Jackie Bradley Jr. 5. Blake Swihart 6. Mookie Betts 7. Allen Webster 8. Garin Cecchini 9. Jon Denney 10. Matt Barnes
Floor list: 1. Xander Bogaerts 2. Jackie Bradley Jr. 3. Brandon Workman 4. Garin Cecchini 5. Allen Webster 6. Anthony Ranaudo 7. Matt Barnes 8. Christian Vazquez 9. Blake Swihart 10. Drake Britton
This was a lot harder to come up with than what I imagined. I'm sure this will leave people scratching their heads to say the least.

Interesting and, IMHO, worthwhile as a thought exercise.
I think Vazquez is either 4 or 5 in floor. He will be a starting MLB catcher. Folks who think he may just be a backup are not thinking rationally; you'd have to be worse than Kevin Cash at the plate to not be a top-30-in-MLB catcher with Vazquez's defense.
Margot and Devers have to be on the potential list. Whereas I don't think Bradley's in the top 9.
1. Xander Bogaerts 2. Blake Swihart 3. Allen Webster 4. Trey Ball 5. Henry Owens 6. Manny Margot 7. Rafael Devers 8. Garin Cecchini 9. Mookie Betts 10. Jackie Bradley Jr.
Swihart is the other position player you can imagine being an MVP.

I think Barnes has one of the highest floors of our pitchers. Too lazy to make a list right now.

Potential: 1. Bogaerts 2. Trey Ball 3. Allen Webster 4. Blake Swihart 5. Rafael Devers 6. Mookie Betts 7. Henry Owens 8. Manuel Margot 9. Matt Barnes 10. Nick Longhi
Floor 1. Bogaerts 2. Garin Cecchini 3. Jackie Bradley Jr. 4. Christian Vazquez 5. Brian Johnson 6. Allen Webster 7. Anthony Ranaudo 8. Stephen Wright 9. Deven Marrero 10. Noe Ramirez
Notes: I think Owens has a much lower floor than the other "top" starters, as in, if he doesn't learn better control he's a career minor leaguer; the other guys at least have a future in the bullpen. To me B. Johnson is a better version of Doubront. Webster seems to be (for a patient team) a pitcher like A.J. Burnett; waffling between really good and below average with a lot of strike outs and walks, HRs will dictate good and bad seasons.

The floor part doesn't interest me much but I think Eric pretty much nailed the potential:
1. Xander Bogaerts 2. Blake Swihart 3. Allen Webster 4. Trey Ball ( I would include RDLR and put him here ) 5. Henry Owens 6. Margot ( I would go with Barnes instead ) 7. Rafael Devers 8. Garin Cecchini 9. Mookie Betts 10. Jackie Bradley Jr.
Every one of these guys is a potential all star to me. Not saying they will become one but I do think they can all possibly become one for a year or so or more. And I agree with Eric on the MVP comment for Swihart. Not at all likely but possible. I also think Cechinni is in that conversation as his bat could be mvp worthy if he finds a way to be a 30 HR guy some day. He will hit and it is still possible that his power emerges. I want to start swearing when I think about the potential of these guys. That's how much I like the current farm situation. Expletives start spewing out of my mouth with enthusastic emphasis about how freaking good these kids can potentially be.
