Hey all,
It’s that time of year where we ask that you cast your vote for the third baseman in the Red Sox minor league system that you believe will have the best 2014 season. Keep in mind that you are voting with respect to who you predict will be perform the best on the field, not who you consider to be the best prospect. As per usual, each player is only eligible for one position and thus will not appear on multiple polls.
Note that this poll will close on March 17. We look forward to seeing your votes!
Best, Matt

I'm going to go for long-shot here with Acosta. Very, very impressed with his DSL line last year - he had eight home runs, and the rest of the team had seven combined. I believe that is also the Red Sox DSL affiliate record, but I could be missing someone. He combined that with the lowest K rate on the team. If the .256 BABIP was more bad luck than anything else, then he could be poised for a real breakthrough.

The projected rosters has Acosta at 2B for GCL and Devers at 3B for GCL, but you have both as choices here for 3B... just seems strange to me.

The projected rosters has Acosta at 2B for GCL and Devers at 3B for GCL, but you have both as choices here for 3B... just seems strange to me. Acosta played 3B last year. We're projecting him to get most of his time at 2B in the GCL because (a) Devers will see most of the 3B at-bats, and (b) Acosta played a good bit of 2B down in VZ this winter. That said, these polls are an inexact science, and we fudge things sometimes. He fit better here. And let's face it, he wasn't winning at either position.
