Painful to watch this team. For the most part it's the same team you watched win the World Series last year. Defense not as good. Bats off to a slow start. Except for Clay B. pitching has been good. I think we'll be okay when Will and Shane get back but We need to trade one of carp or Nava.

That inning showed one of the small but important differences between Salty and AJP. Lackey was having a tough inning and twice waved off AJ as he was coming out. He kept coming and had his say. The results don't matter for one inning, he walked a guy and had a fowl ball following the visits. Salty would have turned around.

Capuano against Choo I'll accept, but that's it. Bring a real pitcher in now, please.
(edit: Tazawa is ready in the bullpen and Capuano is facing a righty. Why? Why these things?)
(edit 2: because Prince Fielder. Acceptable.)

12 hits, 2 walks, 2 HBP, just 2 runs. They should be winning by a far more comfortable margin, but sequencing is once again not being kind.

STOP TRYING TO BUNT.
The pitcher can't even throw a strike and you're trying to gift him an out. The hell?

I wish that run hadn't scored because I don't want to see that kind of nonsense rewarded.

Rain moving in by 8 or 9 and not moving out till midday Tuesday. Not likely to get nine in tonight. Will either manager change their game management? My guess is no, but they should. Good call

Fielder is the most ironic name.
He is the worst glove I can think of even historically.
No team can have post season plans that include him anywhere near the field.

Good call Yup, I reported the weather report and was wrong. No one bothered to answer my question though. Would you manage the game different if the weather report suggested a shortened game?

This team is awesome with RISP. Won't be to long before all that luck turns in their favor and the hits start stringing together more favorably. Maybe it's already started...

The better a team's offense is, the more runners they'll have on base. The more runners a team has on base, they more runners they'll strand on base. Stranding a bunch of runners is frustrating, but in the big picture it's usually a good thing.

There is one perhaps sustainable reason they've been stranding lots of baserunners-- a relative lack of power. If Middlebrooks is out for a month or two, it wouldn't surprise me if Ortiz and Napoli were the only ones with 15+ home runs.
