De La Rosa, Owens, Ball poop. Momma says there will be days like this. I'm not sure what you were expecting from Ball. I can certainly say that I expected him to go less than 5 innings and walk more than 1 batter, and as such consider this a very promising start.

Ball had one rough inning, and he allowed too many base runners, but I'm very encouraged. 4 of his 5 innings were scoreless, he was able to produce a couple double play balls to help limit damage. He threw 73 pitches, only had one walk. Lots of good things to take away from his first start of the season.

I don't see how this can be considered anything other than a successful outing by Ball. The deciding reason he probably will not come out for the sixth is that he has been sitting too long waiting for the 5th to be over.

Which also may have had something to do with his problems in the second inning after his team came up with 6 runs in the bottom of the first.

Any reports on his stuff? There were definitely some encouraging stats, the ground ball/fly ball ratio and about 2/3 of his pitches were strikes.

On a day where Greenville has scored 18 times already, Jantzen Witte is having quite a day.
3/3, 2B, 3BB.

Hey guys, only being flippant about Ball, but one appearance says little either way. But who is this kid at Greenville, Carlos Asuaje. It is only his second year in the system, and hitting over 360 with a good number of walks. Little guy but has 12 extra base hits. Maybe a bit old for that league (22) and has college experience. Only about 70 abats though. Keep on waiting for him to cool off, but not yet.

If you had the sox scoring over forty between the four teams and winning at least two...

Unfortunately, we would like to ask posters to not post links or videos that include copyrighted MLB or MiLB content. This includes video that has been recorded off milb.tv (sorry, Ray-- I know you worked hard to upload those, but we just can't have them linked on the forums). Thanks.

Watch scouting on him from HS showcases and he got hit hard a bit so I expect him to get hit hard in the zone a bit for now, but I am happy that he is in the zone. If his stuff plays up as projected he could be as we hoped. I am very encouraged by his first start as I thought Greenville might be a bit over his head at the moment.

Carlos Asuaje is too good to stay in Greenville. He needs to be challenged.

I was at the game and I don't know if Owens gave up a single cheap hit in the first 5 innings. From the very first batter it was a laser show. I think mainly from his fastball. I did see quite a few swings and misses on his change up. But make no mistake, he got hit hard. He iS going to have to locate his fastball extremely well at the mlb level, and I think develop a cutter or something special beyond his change up. His fastball is going to get hammered if it's over the plate in mlb.
Mookie made several terrific defensive plays. Much better today than yesterday but he made at least one great play yesterday as well. He had a great smash off the cf wall which was kind a cool to watch.

I agree on Asuaje. The biggest thing to me is that he is driving the ball more than was expected. He might be simply one of those guys who played for a small school and got missed by a lot of scouts.
Is it me or do we give more focus small prospects? Do we give them more credence because of the Pedroia experience? We seem to have a lot of small guys in our system and lots of them are producing.
EDIT: Asuaje now has an OBP of .500, which I would think probably is leading the minors at this point for qualified hitters. I think Mr. Asuaje deserves his own thread at this point!

Not a problem, I just got home but I deleted them from YouTube as well. One of the links you deleted was from the Portland Sea Dogs, not me. LOL, not much work, just clicks, even at my age that's manageable.

You should feel free link to anything posted by the affiliates or any videos you or other parties recorded while you were at the game (like this or this)-- basically anything that wouldn't infringe on MLB copyrights. But videos ripped straight from milb.tv, especially ones that are not highlight videos or compilations but just unedited entire innings, are probably not OK.

Just a comment. I deleted the two videos but my reasoning had nothing to do with copyright, it only had to do with the preference of SoxProspects management. Recording a stream and disseminating that stream is a violation of no copyright laws unless there is a specific profit tied to that specific stream. What I did is no more illegal than inviting friends over to watch the game. As long as I don't charge admission, there's no laws broken. By MiLB selling me a stream, they have in effect made that stream mine to do with as I please.
The only copyright lawsuits that have ever been won, involve profit. PirateBay remains the fifth largest internet site in spite of the fact that everything at their site is pretty much developed by outside sources. They only lost one lawsuit, in that case, they tied an advertisement to a specific film. That is profit. YouTube can't show copyrighted material because they profile and in turn advertise based on profiles. If I go to YouTube when not logged in, I get childrens games and Barbie advertisements based on my IP. If I log into my account, I get Mike Andrews's page and SuperBowl oriented ads (I once searched for Whitney Houston Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl. On the other hand, I couldn't tell you who played in the Super Bowl.
In general, unless there are specific profits tied to rebroadcasting a stream, there will be no lawsuits because virtually every law suit lost resulted in a counter frivolous lawsuit in which the copyrighter had to pay punitive damages.
Again though, it is SoxProspects preference.

Phils - I am an intellectual property attorney as my real job. It is absolutely copyright infringement to reproduce and demonstrate the work publicly, regardless of profit. I don't mean to be a jerk, but frankly your legal analysis is just way off and I don't want that precedent to be set with other readers.
