There's a .383 difference in Mookie's batting average as a second baseman compared to him as a center fielder. That's troublesome.
Hell of a play by Marrero. Portland's announcer called it 'Jeteresque'. Time to switch over to Antonellis. Hmmm Portland simulcast.
Three innings by the boards and Mookie hasn't touched a ball. I think their afraid of him.

Absolutely amazing play by Deven Marrero...
...and then the commentator had to spoil the moment by calling it "Derek Jeter-esque". WTF dude?

Mookie's batting average is .117 higher as a center fielder than as a second baseman. Who knew ?
Mookie just stole third then scored on a throwing error.

Rubbie just gave up 2 and five hits so far... But
The triple was a gapper thart could have been caught: No jump at all.
Double was a soft liner past cicchini that should have been stopped. He plays way too far off the line and the single was a bouncer up the middle.
In conclusion PAwsox d sucks

Mookie steals 3rd, gets hit by the throw and scores.

Mookie touched the ball on a single up the middle. Funny thing is, he would have touched it if he was at second as well. Later he caught a routine flyball.
Swihart threw out a runner. Both catchers have excellent arms (MFY Sanchez).
Mookie just covered a lot of ground on a liner caught by Hissey.
Nice throw by Sanchez to pick off Gibson with runners on first and second and Mookie at bat. I feel like I'm watching the next chapter of Fisk-Munson Tek-Posada.

Nice job by the Portland team. Always nice to sweep anything MFY but this is the team with virtually all of their prospects.

Gibson has 1 steal and 4 CS so far this year. How does someone with that much speed accomplish that?
So now we know Mookie has plus intimidation tools. No one wants to hit the ball to him. good decision!
I was also impressed with Sanchez the other day by the way. His numbers are less than the impression. The guy has some pop in his bat. And is pretty good on his throws to 2nd.

Just back from paw sox.
Not a lot to see here.
Cecchini and nava and pray formally ups.
All the taaa filler is exactly that.
Lacarnway looks very bulky yet his at bats are weak. The hr was left field linens barely out.
Cechhini needs to hut exceptionally well as his d is non existent. At 3rd and hopefully you may be able to hide him in left.

Was Rubby hit pretty hard with those 9 hits? Hard to complain with 8ks and 1bb.

No not at all Thereof runs were scored on a single.
There were no running catches in the if.
One ball was a legit double.
When he bears down the fastball pops and the change is silly .
When he doesn't early on counts the ball is in play.
The hole team was a bit life less. Real matinee feel.
Nava is lost down here and was the only of with any d.
His status is sad.

Disconcerting to hear Cechinni is not driving the ball but not surprising. Still young in the season, and he seems to have the savvy and approach to get a tad more loft in his swing. Only saw him in st and could not discern whether he had a quick swing. He certainly was good at topping the ball, only a small sample though.

In his last 5 games Blake Swihart has a 4/1 BB/K ratio...

Chris Mellen ? Chris Mellen 11m First-division player. RT @greenmonstersox: realistic ceiling for (Rafael) devers? . . . . Scouting the boxes: Both Mercedes and Cuevas continue extremes, either extremely good or bad. Today Cuevas the good, Mercedes the bad & Buttrey the ugly. Looking at Aro's profile and the game logs is interesting. Profile says throws strikes yet he has a lot of BB/IP. On the other hand he's not giving up many hits. He's older but if he does actually throw strikes, could be a bullpen piece down the road. Asuaje continues to roll. Weems had a triple. I only point that out because I think there's a lot more potential there than is showing so far. . . From watching: Today Ramos struggled with breaking balls and he got a lot of them which is something I hadn't noticed before (although it might just be SSS or something I hadn't noticed). If the pitchers are in fact changing their approach and given his M.O. of being raw, this could be a time for a huge step forward for Henry, or not. I'll try to pay attention to what they are throwing him and how he reacts.

Even MiLB is calling it Jeter-like so I'm not going to post the idiotic tweet but, here's the play: . . After further review, not so idiotic: . MiLB.com ?@milb 59m MUST-SEE MiLB.TV: #RedSox No. 13 prospect @dmarrero17 shows great range, makes Jeter-like throw for @portlandseadogs. atmilb.com/1lSBxYa. . . . Red Sox Stats ?@redsoxstats 45m Pierzynski + Ross: .227/.273/.356 At what point do you at least try to let Vazquez dominate the game in a defensive facet? . . . It should be noted that Marrero is only seven months younger than Iglesias and is already a far better hitter than Jose although I can't really say that he's mastered the swinging bunt.

There is no doubt that Marrero is a very good defender at SS. But he just doesn't have the flair that made Iggy so fun to watch.
