Shitty to see JBJ hurt, but i'm relieved it is a ball to the face and not an arm injury like I initially thought it was... I thought it was a shoulder at first.

Xander's really showing an improved D of late. Glad he will still get some games there even with Drew. Rest Drew and play some Bogaerts/Holt left side.

I'm beyond sick of this Ortiz/Price/unwritten rules nonsense already.

So much for the meaningless SBs I was hoping for.

Very impressive outing by Rubby De La Rosa. Good all around game by the Sox and a good response to the Ortiz/Price Sox/Rays mess. Hope they sweep the Rays tomorrow and get some revenge.

Nice catch by jbj ....I always thought he had some frisbee dog in him but I hope he doesn't try to catch any more with his teeth.

Holy smokes, this has been a delightful game for us prospect nerds. What a spectacular outing from De La Rosa. That fastball/change combo is just nasty, and if he commands the ball and keeps it down, he could be as good as any pitcher in the organization.

Heck he's better than Tanaka!!.........err ...wait a minute. He had a great game tonight and showed much improvement in his command. Is the breaking ball a slider or hard curve?....at 82 mph. The FB must be straight because I did not see many swings/misses on it. He located it well tho. It sure set up that change .....some dropped like a split. Bradley looks better at the plate and I think he is on the way to turning it around. It was fun to see someone other than Papi (Bogaerts) issued an intentional walk by the 'mastermind' Maddon. I would loved to have heard the TB announcers during the game.

at the game tonight boys right behind the home dugout beautiful game to watch rubby look great. Holt"s homer set the tone. Haven't been to a game in 10 years, what a joy. We're back and the favorites to win the division.

Amazing game all the way around. Rubby really showed he's grown a bit mentally, staying within himself and keeping it together inning to inning. Can't wait for his next start.

Garin Cecchini called up!
Alex Speier @alexspeier Red Sox to call up Garin Cecchini on Sunday, option Alex Wilson back to Pawtucket fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/… via @weei

I'm hesitant to post such rank speculation, but I wonder if some of his inconsistency at AAA is due to frustration/boredom at the level. For people who've seen him down there, does he usually look as poised/confident/focused as he did tonight? Of all the Pawtucket starters, he's the one I'd like to see get an extended trial at the major leagues. I know he hasn't actually had a ton of innings in AAA, but he's also 25 now and he's clearly got major league stuff and then some. Are they going to keep "developing" him in the minors until he's 26 or 27? Give him a chance to start now and if that doesn't work out, put him in the bullpen, but either way, he should be contributing to the major league club at this point.

It made sense when WMB 1st went down, but now? Is pedroia going to really miss some time and isn't Drew joining the team Monday? From posts above speculating on RDLR's future starts.. Let's hope he makes them, along with Workman. Remember the team only started playing better after banishing both Doubront and Bucholz to somewhat phantom DL lists. Team needs to find a way to KEEP them there. This young kid roster is somewhat like the one Joe Morgan had back in 88/89. Playing their hearts out. Lets keep it going like that with some vets also there. I personally was wanting to see all these kids get time in and so far they are doing well.

Cecchini is likely a one-day move until Drew joins the team on Monday. If Wilson had not pitched two innings tonight, they likely would not have made this move.
