There has been a lot of talk yesterday/today about how RDLR is down to his last option, but the 40-man page shows he has 2. Which is correct?

Talk by who? Board members or media? I didn't see it.
He was optioned for only 9 days in 2012, so by by math that should not have counted as a full option. But there is some grey area in the rule when the end time is - from what I've seen, the end time of the option is the end of the minor league season.
In 2011, his contract was purchased in May, he was never optioned as far as I can tell, and then he was placed on the DL on August 1 for the remainder of the season. No option burned there.
