Some of the Ground Rules are applied loosely in here, as we understand that there is a tendency to want to react (or overreact) to every play of a Sox game with one line reactionary posts. Those posts are okay in the Red Sox Series threads to a point - we certainly appreciate the passion. Just try not to overdo it, and try to maintain some semblance of reason. In addition, please don't let those type of posts spill over to other more substantive threads, where they may be deleted. -The Management

Let's hope that someday in the not-too-distant future we can get back to where the series thread disclaimer is actually needed.

If they start winning now I can see the disclaimer reclaiming prominence.

That Doubront start worries me. We could actually win that one.

One benefit of getting swept. It also makes the MFY's try to win all three games in New York. If Toronto wins a game against MFY and we get swept they will only have a 1gm lead entering the final 3 games. Probably, making all three a must win for them. Let's lose out!

Lose to the O's, sweep the Yankees, still get a protected pick and laugh our asses off when NY loses the Wild Card game. Schadenfreude - an authentic part of the Red Sox experience.

Yeah, I'd pitch Dice against Baltimore instead of Doubront and start Doubront against the MFY's. Give the Birds the sweep.

Hi this is first post. Doubbront looks good. I am a big fan. Been reading for awhile but hope we keep him.

Man oh man, losing is one thing, but this game is threatening to get way out of hand way early. When things go bad, they go abominable.

That may have been Cook's last appearance in a major league uniform unless he decides to wear one for Halloween. Not exactly the best way to end your career.

Amazing that no one mentioned that the Sox were one-hit last night when a no-hitter also was thrown.
The Sox still have a chance to lose as many games as I thought they would win....

Wow, I was at the game last night, and I didn't even realize the Sox were one-hit ... it was such a dreary, dismal team it just seemed like making outs was a matter of course, the proper result of any at-bat.

such a dreary, dismal team -------------------------------------------------- Doubront really gave an effort (without his best stuff). The 10K's showed some guts. Why couldn't the other LH pitch like this? Now I have to root the pen--Tzawa-- blows up and they lose this.

I really doubt that this team could get motivated even against the Yankees. Hard to believe that after one batter Stewart actually INCREASED his 27 ERA.

He's made several great plays. I like his swing to, even though he hasn't hit much. I think he'll hit enough to make him a plus player.
