Dewey Evans was the last Red Sox to play in the majors at 19. Given the Sox sad state of affairs this year it seems like a few more years before they are competitive thus opening up some opportunities. Bogaerts made the majors at 20. Betts at 21. Are there any players in the system that could be the next 19 year old to be called up? More than likely it would have to be from the DSL or GCL. Devers (who is starting to remind me of a young MCab) is a candidate, are there any others.

Then he struggled for years with his stance before learning to hit. Only his defence kept him in the game at such a young age, probably like JBJ right now, only JBJ lacks his power and has slightly less of an arm?
Imagine had Evans stayed at AAA another year, he may have improved. 3 years was short.
The 19YO I believe you were referring to was Tony C anyway. He never did struggle at the MLB level and was a joy to watch for those who ever had the privilege. Saw in a few times on TV games, then at ST here in WH and when he attempted the comeback during the spring of '75 that was short n sweet.

Evans was born in '51 and made his first appearance in 1972. He wasn't 19.

There seems to be one every couple years, but it's rare. If we were to look back in hindsight at someone so good and so advanced and see what they did in the beginning and in the lower minors it would probably look like this with Devers. But the list of young ball players who MASH it in the GCL/Lowell/Greenville and slow down their progression and/or bust is much much much much much much much much (gaaaasp) much much higher.
Devers looks good, and is fun to dream on....but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
