I'm guessing this is where we discus specific player rankings since I've never done that before.
Anyhow, just wanted to comment that the way he's been pitching, Luis Diaz should be moving up the ladder pretty fast. We have a 22 year old with command of 3 pitches, sits 92-93 and hits 94 and on rare occasions 95. He's another one of the new wave of pitchers who's second offering is the change, not the breaking pitch. That seems to be more frequent than years past. Most impressive, in his last start, his 101st pitch was still 93. I think, relative to this week's rankings that his skill set and development should be around the 9 slot.
I do want to add that I totally understand where he's ranked now relative to how things work, it's not at all intended to be a criticism of the rankings, more of a comment on what we might have here. I understand that prospect rankings shouldn't be an overnight zoom up the ladder, SSS and all that, particularly for a prospect that's been in our system for a while, albeit somewhat hidden at Greenville and Salem.
In the games I've seen, he seems to be getting away from his slider in favor of the curve, I'm guessing he's concentrating on 3 pitches and will add back the slider at a later date, maybe next year. But that's something that's pure speculation on my part.
It'd be nice to see one of the 'eyes' get a live peek, he's looked impressive on the monitor.

I'm curious why Kukuk's fallen so far in the rankings over the last month or so this year. I realize the control troubles have been extreme, but he's continued to get lots of swings and misses at a higher level (okay, not that much higher). I'm not arguing for him to be a top 20 guy or anything, but given that the stuff seems to still look so good (basing that on Speier's reports) I wouldn't have expected him to be almost out of the top 60. Is it due to things that have been heard about his makeup? Are scouts thinking that it's increasingly unlikely that he's ever able to throw strikes with any consistency? Or just, you know, walking close to 19% of the guys he's faced in Salem?
Thanks.

FYI this thread is really old. He's higher in the latest rankings.

I know this thread was old, it just seemed like it made the most sense in where to ask.
He's actually still really low--#56. For which I'm sure there's a good reason. I was just wondering whether that reason was something that the guys doing the rankings know that we don't.
