The next Andrew Miller? Looking at his numbers, I wonder why he hasn't been put in the bullpen yet.

He's been mostly a starter for the last 4 years, but the last time he was exclusively a RP in 2010, he struck out 94 batters in 62.2 IP while allowing only 3 homers in single A. The year before that, he had 51 K in 35.1 IP with no homers. I hope the Sox view him as a reliever since that's where basically all his success has been.

I expect Miller or Breslow going soon.

Agree with several of you guys above.. Think the organization sees him as some kind of relief conversion project. Looks like he's MiLB FA after the year, so that's one issue and he's not worth a roster spot right now. Also looks like he's nowhere near Miller in velocity. More like Breslow with 89-91mph, so there is that.
I dunno.. Looks like they will be giving up nearly nothing, which is what the old "or cash considerations" generally is and that means the team probably does not see any LH kids anytime soon they see as relievers coming up. Can't hurt.
Edit:
Shame they wouldn't take both the salary and player(s) of either/both Gomes and/or Peavy??
