A couple more good starts to end the year for Stankiewicz would be awesome.
31.2 IP, 23 H, 7 R/ER, 6 BB, 27 K in his last 5 starts
Plus, I didn't realize how young he still was.

We definitely have not talked a lot about Stank. At 20 in full season ball, he has continually improved and been durable. A solid year in Salem next season and he could be in our top 15 easily. As usual we would all like to see a few more K's, but his walk % is excellent.

Won't be Wright, he was just called up for long-man duty.

Verdugo will get the PawSox start. Valdez takes Wright's spot on the roster.

1st inning at Portland with Brenley catching. Walk caught stealing Infield Single (Dent slipped) caught stealing single K swinging (slider)
Portland scoreless after 1. KDLC last minute scratch for unknown reason. Opposing pitcher sitting 95. (I'm guessing that's not related).

Won't be Wright, he was just called up for long-man duty. According to the roster pages, Brown was DFA'd. How close is Craig to coming off the DL? If that's not imminent, then when Wright (or Wilson) is sent back down, then Betts, Hassan, Cecchini, or Brentz would be recalled in the interim. 40-man effective roster is at 37 (Lavarnway coming off 60-day DL, but Victorino could go on it).

PawSox ?@pawsox 8m An incredible catch by SWB RF Taylor Dugas takes away at least a triple by PawSox lead-off hitter Mookie Betts. Sox and SWB 0-0 after 1.
Strange goings on in Portland. Crik just removed for pitch count. Throws almost all fastballs. Thru 1.2 he has 4BBs 5Ks and a WP. Portland has the bases loaded up 2-0.
Almanzar cleared em with a gift double. Left fielder misplayed it, came in then back. 5-0 now.
I really don't know what to make of what the Giants are doing with Crik. He's 21, threw 58 pitches and AT LEAST 50 were fastballs. Very strange player development.
6-0 after 4. Augliera continues being our hottest pitcher. He's got command of all three pitches tonight. Throws his fastball less frequently than most, slider is easily his best pitch and change looks decent.
Brentz with a HR for Pawtucket, consecutive games for him.
Looking like Wright might get his feet wet tonight.
Chester hammered a HR to deep left off a hanging slider. 7-0 now. Almanzar still making constant solid contact. As I said before, we're going to need to put him on the 40 man, he's looking damn good.
Agliera gave up his first run in a while. HR off a 88 FB, got too much plate.
Bethea with a 2R HR. Drive up 2-0 2nd.
Cecchini with a HR. PawSox up 5-1 in the 7th. Valdez relieved Verdugo.

Cecchini figuring it out he's got a chance now and poring it on late in the season. Middlebrooks blew his last chance.
Would be nice to see Cecchini called up next and given the starts at 3b, Middlebrooks sent back to Pawtucket for good.

Augliera done for the night 6.0IP 6H 1R 1ER 2BB 6K 1HRA 91p/59s 2-5 GO/FO
Hembree came within an inch of an impressive save then turned it into a meltdown. PawSox lost 6-5. Mookie 3/5 2 doubles. I only saw his last AB, he turned a single into a double using his wheels.

Would like to hear from anyone who has seen him lately. Is there a difference now?

Margot just hit another 3R HR. He's 3/4 with a CS. Inside-the-park, no less. Which I just realized really ought to be called a "quadruple," no? What's especially impressive about this high-A start is that his first 2 PA were K, 2-3, which means he swung and missed at a near-wild pitch. Which one might easily ascribe to nerves. Since then, he's 6/11, 2 HR.

Versus 4 HR in his previous 387, .010 HRC (July 5, 2013 - July 27, 2013). Odds against getting that in a random sim using his overall HR rate over the two stretches, about 1200 to 1.

In a brief search, I couldn't find Margot on any pre- or mid- season top 100 lists. I imagine that will change pretty soon.

Since I went with "I told you so" regarding Cecchini early in the year, I'll go on board as not having this stretch really change how I feel about him. Is up to .302/.351/.491 for August at least... 1-4 HR, 2K tonight, 10K/3BB all of August (13 games). Hopefully another year at AAA will get him back to 2013 form.

@evanlepler Manuel Margot w/ one of the most electric plays I've ever seen! Inside-the-park 3-run HR, bolting home from 3rd, head-first slide... Unreal!
@evanlepler Should have been a two-run triple, the defense was lazy with the cut-off, and Margot shocked them by sprinting home. A blur on the bases...
