It has been established that you can factor in age relative to league in making these judgments.
Bethea is a year older (actually, 15 months) than Cecchini and plays three levels below him. Even though he's a catcher, I think that more than offsets the 200 points of SA.
In fact, Miller has essentially the same line as Bethea, is the same age, and the two levels mores than offsets the difference between catcher and shortstop.
And Acosta is two levels behind Bethea and six years younger, and that has to offset the difference between catcher and 2B plus 77 points of SA.

The point is to determine who performed the best, not whose performance is better from a prospecting perspective. I'm not going to completely discount a Bethea, who doesn't get to choose how old he is or what level he plays at, if I think he had the best week. Now, if he and, say, Cheech put up similar lines, then yeah, I'll go with Cheech for the reasons you cite. I get your point - in fact, when we were discussing who to put in this week's polls last night, I was bemoaning the fact that Aaron Wilkerson is basically a shoo-in every week because he has no business in the NYPL.

I've generally ignored it in the past. This week, I thought, hold it, isn't Bethea really old for his league? It's true that he didn't choose to be assigned to Portland, but it's also true that if Cecchini had played at Greenville, hitting as well, and seen the same pitchers as Bethea, we can safely think he would have put up an even better line. It is a tricky thing. Bethea had the best numbers for the week. Who had the best week, period? I think we all agree that Wilkerson gets special treatment because of ARL, and it's obviously a judgment call as to whether Bethea ought to. But I thought that some folks may not have realized that he's actually a year older than Cecchini (my guess had actually been that he was the same).

Yeah, it's a fair thing to bring up. No worries.
That said, we may have to re-post the poll, so hang on.
