Glad they expedited it and got their guy. Anxious to see what they gave up to get him.

Very happy with this. So, lets begin the speculation. What does everybody think we gave up to get him?

Aviles and or someone from rule 5. May be the Jays go to pick 2 from the rule 5 guys? This is my guess.

I will say they gave up one of Stolmy Pimental, Alex Wilson or Drake Britton. I don't think it will be more than that, but something of substance. I saw Jim Callis guess it was Pimental and I think it makes sense.

ill go with aviles and hazelbaker. If we gave up britton i can live with it, but I dont think we gave up a top 15 prospect.

I saw Jim Callis guess it was Pimental and I think it makes sense. I'm guessing it's Hazelbaker and Britton, although I hope I'm wrong. I hope it is Pimental as I don't think he'll really amount to much. I still think Wilson could be an ok middle reliever (which the Sox have a decent supply of). I think Britton could at least be a decent lefty out of the pen, which is a rarer thing, with a chance at being a backend starter.

Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Source: In John Farrell trade, it appears one player will go in *each* direction. So #RedSox will get a player from #BlueJays too.
This is nothing new, because its the MLB rule. But, maybe he means a player of some worth

I am worried about who is headed to Toronto in return, but I am certainly impressed with the speed in which this got done.

it could mean the player we send over is more valuable than we expected

RT @jonmorosi: Source: Player going from #RedSox to #BlueJays was a major leaguer in 2012.

Bard, Aviles, Bailey, Melacon, Doubront (only if we get MLB back), Ciriaco, Kalish?

I seriously doubt we would send doubront over. I could see bard, but not doubront or bailey

If they gave up anyone who gets a single positive major league atbat or out, it's a joke.

Jon Morosi @jonmorosi I'm told #BlueJays are getting an infielder. And no, not Will Middlebrooks
HAS to be Aviles.. or Ciriaco

I am utterly disappointed with this. Not that I think Farrell is that bad of a manager (nor good to be honest) but the process makes me fear for the worst going forward.
It seems to me they went with a pre-determined mindset/outcome (getting Farrel) and then proceeded with the interviews just in case they couldn't get a deal with the Blue Jays. It's the reversion of the analytical and quasi-scientific approach that I expect the FO to have, not only in conducting a search for a new manager but also player acquisition and decisions.
Plan A was Farrel all along and then Plan B was whoever came out of the interview process on top. Second year in a row we're having this, we conduct an entire process for a managerial job and then in the end we say "Screw it!" and hire the guy someone has an infatuation with. Last year Lucchino with Valentine and this year, who knows who, with Farrel.
Maybe if they played it the same way, Farrel would have still been the choice. But that they went out of the process bothers me to no end, and we don't even know the compensation yet. I am deeply disappointed with the FO and concerned going forward.
Having said, I hope Farrel IS the best choice.

Ivan De Jesus makes the most sense to me as Morosi is reporting it is an IF who played at MLB level last season.

I rather it be Pimental than Britton, I think a change of scenery would do him well and I think Britton could off the Sox something whether its rotation wise or bullpen

According to Jon Morosi of Foxsports, the player going to TOR is a MLB IF, not named Middlebrooks
Guys I guess it could be: Aviles, Iglesias, Ciriaco, Gomez, De Jesus, Valencia
My guess is its one of the SS's
