Why isn't Swihart catching Johnson? He caught him all year.
That also struck me as strange and Johnson has been shaking off Lavarnway a lot, you never saw that with Swihart. Either way, nice start (I missed about half of it), the part I saw he was struggling with FB command. Likely done after 6.
Up 3-2
95 pitches/58 strikes
5/3 GO/FO
4 Hits
3 BB
7 K
2 ER
1 HRA (both runs came on a Mahtook HR)
Cellestino with a clean 7th inning. Spotting a 96 FB well, mixing in a power slider.
Earlier Castillo (walk) scored on a Lavarnway ground out and Corey Brown had a 2 R HR.
Clean 8th, Cellestino just went through the heart of the order. Mostly 96 FB, slider but last K was on a change up.
Hembree in for the close. Started off with a 1-2 K swinging (slider) against Beckham. Same batter he struck out to end yesterday's game.
Crap, solo HR, 2-2 slider up in the zone.
Single, Hernandez in, runner on first, one out.
Walk, DP. 3-3 bottom of the 9th. Bottom of the order due up.
Corey Brown led off with a double, sac to 3rd, Castillo with a FO but too shallow to send Brown, then a ground out. Bonus baseball. Ely in for the 10th.
Ely worked around a leadoff walk, heading to the bottom of the tenth. Ely throws a lot of offspeed stuff. The last out was a K of Tim Beckham. He sure is struggling in the playoffs, 4 Ks tonight. That's the same Tim Beckham that used to be considered the Ray's future.
I'm wondering if Swihart is hurt, Lavarnway is in scoring position but no pinch runner. 2 outs.
Bases loaded, Brown due up. Lefty on lefty with the reliever losing command. Inning was set up by an 11 pitch pop-out by Shaw.
Brown struck out (all sliders). On to the 11th. PawSox have had exciting playoff games.

John Ely leaves with an apparent arm injury (he had Tommy John surgery in April of 2013). Let's hope it's not serious. 3-3 still top 11th
Verdugo in relief, walk (Ely), catcher interference, single on 0-2 hung curve, Bulls up 4-3. On to the bottom of the 11th. 2nd out was a great barehanded play on a ball deflected to Marrero. K on a nice Verdugo slider to end the inning.
Brentz struck out to end it. Great game, tough loss.
