I am brand new as a participant here (though I spend far too much time here). As a newbie I would not presume to start a thread and would be happy if a moderator wanted to move this to a better place.
I am befuddled by the lack of love for Justin Haley in the site rankings and in the individual final lists. On some lists he is left off completely.
Maybe part of the problem is there was some confusion as to his age. He is 23, not 27. 6 months younger than Brian Johnson. Like Johnson, he split the season between high A and AA, although his move came later in the year. Still, his performance was pretty terrific on paper over both levels. Yet some folks rate him behind the likes of Hembree, Mercedes, Kukuk, even Pat Light and Myles Smith, not to mention some of the very new guys who have yet to accomplish anything of significance professionally.
He clearly needed to get the walks under control after last year and he accomplished that. Big pitcher with a sinking fastball that touches 95 according to the site. Gives up very few longballs. I've never seen him pitch but the description brings to mind Derek Lowe. This does not look like an organization filler beating up younger competition with junk.
So, not having seen him and not or being skilled at detecting warning flags deep in the stats, I would like to hear from the more knowledgeable posters about whether Haley is being overlooked in all the hype about other prospects.
