For reference, my ProBoards app stopped working on my iPhone a few days ago, so I decided to look into the issue.
After getting on the Google and sifting through some ProBoards Support forums, I found out that ProBoards has discontinued support for their app. The two most common issues were a frozen keyboard that would not collapse, and the app 'blinking out' and closing as soon as you went to search. My understanding (and I'm just paraphrasing from an Admin post) is that Apple changed their app developer guidelines and ProBoards would have to do a complete overhaul in order to comply. They are also unable to issue updates as these would also fail to comply with the new guidelines. ProBoards has withdrawn the app from the iTunes App Store in light of these developments and are encouraging IOS8 users to download and use the Tapatalk app, which is free from the App Store, features a more modern interface and allows for push notifications.
