My two major concerns on Rijo are a) the massive leg kick he uses, which probably won't get exploited until the higher levels, and b) his effort level on defense. Not necessarily things we'll see in the stat line this year. www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?&sid=milb&content_id=48958383 Can see his leg kick here for those interested

In that video the leg kick looks less pronounced than Sandoval's. Look at how he's off balance on the fourth pitch, which he takes. He's not really in position to hit what looks like an off-speed pitch. My worry is that against better pitching that'll happen more often. Note that he also closes from a very open stance, so his movement is towards the plate, then redirected towards the pitcher. It's not just the leg kick, but the amount of movement in his swing. Perhaps I misstated the first time. Not saying he definitely can't use those mechanics. Just saying I'm unsure and a bit skeptical.

Only 1 start, but seemed to be missing bats, great sign from him.

Yeah, unfortunately I agree, if you could draw a line with his front toe, it almost makes a little pig tail, I'm no scout, but that can't be good for balance or staying back on the ball. I would hope that it is correctable though. Still like him a lot though.
