Just wanted to post a short note about the Player of the Week/Month awards this season, as we're switching that up a bit.
This year, the Players of the Week will be chosen by the staff and included in the Weekly Notes every Monday. The Player of the Month will be chosen by poll here on the forum and get their own news page post.
There were a few reasons for this switch, including that we felt the wisdom of the crowd here was better served on POTM, which tends to be a closer call more often (at least relatively) than POTW. We also found that we were spending a lot of time figuring out who we would include in POTW polls when just picking a winner and not worrying about who had the 4th and 5th best weeks would've been far easier.
Note that the time this frees up for us is going to be spent on other great SoxProspects stuff more worthy of our attention. For example, Mike Reynolds has debuted some really neat player stat pages, which are now linked in each active player's profile. For example: www.soxprospects.com/stats/batter.php?player=596119
