I'm officially off the Wright bandwagon by the way....In case anyone was wondering. I haven't been following the forums, but was there seriously a bandwagon? I belive he was called a Cy Young candidate at one point.

A win is a win but I hope that doesn't really hurt our chances in the coming games. It is nice to see the Yankees lose a game like that. Now I think I'll sleep until Sunday. Not sure how it would, only Steven Wright pitched an excessive number of innings. A move has to be made to activate Kelly anyway.

I'm officially off the Wright bandwagon by the way....In case anyone was wondering. I'm one of the biggest knuckleball fans out there, but those were some torturous innings. To be fair, the HP umpires strike zone wasn't favorable towards Wright, especially with Hanigans difficulty w/ framing. 2:30ish finish here, loved every second of it. The youngins came to play. Bogaerts with 4 extra innings hits and the GW run. Mookie with his worst ML performance coming strictly in extra innings, yet driving in the winning run. It wasn't pretty but my man Steven Wright got the job done. Never have I emptied my storage of alcohol in one sitting. 161-1!

Longest game I've ever watched in its entirety, let alone scored every pitch of. Some observations:
-- The roster move to add a pitcher (probably Workman) to the pen should be to option Craig, and then recall Rusney as soon as you don't need the 8-man pen. If you send down Layne or Ross, you have to stick with that bullpen alignment, which you've already decided is not your best, for 10 days. And they'e both looked good (and one will be going down Monday to make room for Koj.)
-- Lost a bit: Xander's great play to end the 11th and his very good play to end the game. I may revert to my original prediction that he'll lead the team in WAR.
-- Wright had a crappy knuckler (as evidenced by 3 BB, 1 SO) and still gave up 2 ER in 5 IP, which is, at the worst, back-of-rotation adequate. If he has that knuckler all year long, he'll be passed by most of the other guys in the PawSox rotation. But his track record the last 2 years suggests he'll usually be better than that.
-- I'm pretty sure I smashed my personal high for adding "?" after notating a ball or called strike.

Brock Holt is a sure bet to play tomorrow. Question is which IF position with all 3 playing well. Assuming we'll see Craig start as well. 1B or LF?

Well, there goes my prediction of Rusney being the first callup to Boston in that prediction game a lot of us played last month. I'll venture a guess that won't be my last wrong answer.

Layne probably isn't available, but it's not like mid-July and these guys had all worked three straight days. In fact the bullpen was actually rested and actually needed the work that last night provided. Heck Vavaro had not pitched at all before last night.

Because 4 games is a good measure?
The only stat that matters after 4 games: 3W - 1L

The only stat that matters after 4 games: 3W - 1L I'm glad that you're willing to accept that Steven Wright is one of the 3 best pitchers on this team. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) (Also we basically have 5 games of data on some of the hitters. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )

A) There's no way you option Craig and go with a three-man bench. The way last night went, you need the bench players more than you need the pitchers right now. I like mgoetze's idea - Mookie and Napoli could certainly use a blow. Let's see if that's what they do.
B) For the pitchers, Wright was getting optioned for Kelly anyway, so there's one move. Mujica, Layne and Breslow had to pitch on consecutive days (counting innings last night as all Friday of course). Layne threw 12 pitches on Thursday but 27 last night. Gotta think he's unavailable today. Breslow threw 19 and 26, so you gotta think the same. Mujica threw only 11 and 15, but he's not getting optioned anyway. Ross threw 18 pitches Wednesday and 10 pitches early last night, so it's probably not worth optioning him.
My guess is that Layne goes down for Workman, or perhaps Barnes. If Barnes were stretched out already, I could see sending Ross down for him so that he could provide some long relief in case Kelly leaves the game early. As I mentioned on Twitter last night, these two are the only 40-man relievers who haven't pitched in the past two days. Hembree has a day's rest but I'd think he's far behind the other two at this point.
Here's another question though: do you call up Eduardo Rodriguez in case you need a long reliever today? If he doesn't pitch, you send him down to make his scheduled start tomorrow and call up someone like Barnes, Spruill, or Hembree.

And Rosenthal reports no other moves than Wright-Kelly. K then.

Scout puzzled why Mujica threw 10 straight fastballs, including ill-fated one to Headley, instead of mixing in splitter last night. #RedSox
---
Throwing 10 straight fastballs to Betts and Pedroia worked well enough for Eovaldi at the top of the 1st, but then again his fastball is somewhat faster than Mujica's...

Brock Holt (CF) and Allen Craig (RF) in #RedSox' lineup.
I did consider that Hanley might need a break but ultimately figured Farrell would take out the guys with slumps instead.

Getting Craig, Holt and Nava needed at-bats. I might have started Holt at 3b though and played Victorino in center. Get Tubby off his feet for a day.

Glad Mookie got the day off. Since his HR on he was struggling since opening day. A day off could do him well.

Sean McAdam @sean_McAdam Worth noting: Sox can't make any bullpen moves for today because they're inside 10-day period when optioned players can't be recalled yet.
