Isn't this 4 days rest for Henry Owens? Are they skipping Brian Johnson?

Johnson is pitching today, per the PawSox website.
I'm going to be in Hagerstown for the Drive game. Fingers crossed that all the interesting guys are playing!

That would make sense. I see MiLB has Owens today, too.

Johnson getting roughed up, struggling with his control in back to back outings.
Game is on NESN btw

Eduardo Rodriguez looking like first in line ahead of Owens and Johnson now. None of them appear to be completely ready though.

EdRod is the one I would most like to see get the call first. I like the others long term as well but EdRod is the one I have the best gut feeling on. Miley looked bettera nd this is when he typically seems to get it going but I do like that EdRod is lined up with him on the same rotational day "just in case" :-)

I know Witte is old for his league but maybe we truly is just a late bloomer? I was looking at his stats and he just seems to be getting better and better... it isn't like guys havent just "got it" at 25 before right?

He raked last year at Greenville and Salem, and this is only his third year in the system. He was older than average when he was drafted and signed. He had quite a day today going 4 for 5 with two doubles and a homer, and his BA is up to .354. I don't know what his defense is like, but if it is decent then he ought to get a shot at Pawtucket at some point.

Also, I hate the word "ACE" and it is so over used but for context purposes... I feel EdRod has the best chance to be an "ACE" then anyone close to ready for us now.

I agree that Rodriguez is first in line as well. But it's important to note that the team shouldn't (and probably isn't) deciding that based on "who had the best start last week. If they thought Johnson was next in line a week ago, today's start wouldn't have changed that, just like if they didn't think he was ready his seven-inning shutout last week wouldn't have altered anything.

I think his profile says his defense at 3b not great but he has been playing 1B mainly.. might be better there? I would love to start getting some prospects piled up on the right side now... I think we have the left side pretty covered. LOL. He is definitely raking. I would like to see a move to Pawtucket soon based on his age... why not throw him in and see what he has there? It isn't like Shaw is showing a lot yet to me there anyway.. a competition.. if it is.. would be nice.. I would like to see how he does against the higher level now and not wait.

Has anyone seen JBJ live on multiple occasions this year since spring training? Just wondering if he's keep the compact swing from camp and if he's not trying to pull everything or just having more than his share of luck?

insert code here From what I've seen in portland, Witte's defense is terrible. He isn't bad on ground balls, but the dude cannot scoop a ball for his life at 1B. The first six games I attended, which were the first six of the season, he must have missed at least five balls in the dirt (mostly from Marco Hernandez). He has looked awesome at the plate though.

If he keeps hitting i wouldnt mind seeing him promoted to Pawtucket, especially considering neither Cecchini or Shaw are hitting.

I just go by vibes. So scientific!!! lmao. I get vibes on guys. My vibe is that Owens will never pan out, Johnson will be a bottom of the order guy for us for a few years before being a middle of the order guy for another team.. and EdRod will be a solid 2 at the minimum for us... not scientific at all and I am wrong all the time for the record. lol

That is troubling to hear since his bat most likely will never play up enough for a DH on the Sox. Maybe he can get better at 1B defense though?

I would give him the bump for a look if he is still raking in another 75 at-bats or so... looks like he is on a faster track anyway.... looks like a bump every 225 AB's or so and he is at 80?

Devers is 4 for 5 with a HR and a pair of doubles today. Good to see as he came into the game with only 3 XBH's all year.

I was about to make this same post. Each individual start isn't changing how valuable or ready each pitcher is for the majors. Rodriguez is first in line because Johnson and Owens aren't on the 40.
