I'm not going to pretend to know anything about him but didn't think we could hire a guy with his resume mid season.

The Red Sox are hiring someone from the right organization at least.

The Red Sox are hiring someone from the right organization at least. Good point. The Tribe has transitioned a few young guys into their rotation in the last few years also. Hopefully this works out for our guys.

I'm surprised Bob Stanley's name was never mentioned. I believe he is still with the Toronto MiL organization (Manchester?). Never hear about him in info from the Sox organization. Did he burn his bridge in Gm 6 of the "86 WS?

They could have hired me as their pitching coach and the same thing would have happened. Better BABIP luck, better clustering, that's all there is to it. The pitchers have pitched just as well under Willis as under Nieves.
