uehara hasn't worked in awhile. Needed the win so he brought his best reliever in. What's up with the negativity when we just got a win?

Great pitching, timely hitting, and no posts about luck, priceless.

We can't keep wasting our 40 year old closer who had significant issues with tiring out last season in situations where it doesn't call for it. The negativity has to do with Farrell constantly mismanaging pretty much everything.

You get swept in Minnesota before this, you take the win and don't take the chance.

but today there was a wrinkly bend in the epidermal of the ether and Farrell knew that a 1-pitch save was part of the script ... yet, he needed to wait one more batter for there to be a save. Farrell blows.

I'm never in favor of a manager using a top reliever just to get him work. Can anyone name one instance in which a manager expressed concern in August that his closer and set-up guy hadn't gotten enough work and might not be sharp the rest of the way? It never happens.
In fact, it's always the opposite. Teams have to use their top pen guys wisely to get them though the dog days and make sure they're effective in October.
If 40-year-old Koji has four or five days in a row off in May, that's fine. As Parcells would say, "That's a good thing, not a bad thing."

I think E-Rod is a wildly different pitcher from A-Alv. But Rodriguez is a lefty who is making his major league debut, and Abe Alvarez is also a lefty who once made his major league debut. Also, the last two letters in their surnames are "e z." Also, both begin their first names with a vowel. You can't deny the connection. Abe Alverez was one of this management teams first mistakes. You can't take college lefties who throw 85 no matter how good their college record and no matter how advanced they are. They maybe ready for AA right away but they will never be ready for the majors and that's what counts. Today's management team would never take someone with his profile as high as they did, never.

Props to Farrell for what? lol Let's see if you can figure this one out... I won't because he didn't make a substantial move. I mean leaving E-Rod in for the 8th or pulling him after the hit/walk? That's what you want us to give him props for? Lol c'mon man...

Going to Layne was the right decision in the 8th. Getting Uehara warm unnecessarily was the wrong decision in the 9th.

Yeah im starting to lose confidence in Farrell. He has been bad before but it seems like his bad moves are becoming more frequent.

No decision in immediate aftermath of game on whether Rodriguez makes next start in big leagues. " I would hope he would," Farrell said

I for one (perhaps a lonely one), would respect the Red Sox if they sent Rodriguez back as originally planned

Rodriguez was at 100 pitches and starting to lose the plate. It was exactly the right move. Why should he take Rodriguez any further? Wherever you're going to take me isn't about baseball.

bringing in a lefty killer to pitch to Choo? Do you also give props to the employees at McDonalds when they manage to make you a cheeseburger?

So is E-Rod's next start in the majors or the bucket? Yes. Probably in the minors until his rotation spot lines up with Joe Kelly's.

I'm not here to pat the guy on the back every time he doesn't mess up.

Probably in the minors until his rotation spot lines up with Joe Kelly's. Predictive statistics don't like Wright either, although judging a knuckleballer this way is likely not the best idea.

Great win, tremendous pitching by Rodriguez. Even with all the double plays (5!) they were able to capitalize.
Looking forward to seeing if Rodriguez goes against Minnesota next week.

I'm hoping E Rod and that W last night can provide us a spark. Let's go get a few in a row and have one of those 20+ win type months in June.

GREAT game last night and Eduardo was magnificent! Did you all see that Ranger graphic before Rodriguez's 1st pitch which stated he has an "average fastball and solid change?
Boy did he show those announcers and Ranger hitters that his fastball is NOT average at all. You have to wonder who gave that opinion. All reports are that is fastball is above average.
Nice to hit the pillow last night with a very positive outing. From Pedey to Mookie to ERod to Hanley.....things certainly looked more promising. BUT that is one game and we need a winning streak of 7 to 10 games, not one intriguing night.
