Please vote above for the player you felt had the best month. You may use almost any criteria you wish in judging each player's month. The one exception is that we ask that voters ignore a player's prospect status - in other words, please don't vote for a player based on the fact that you think he will be a better major league player down the road. However, to be clear, you may use other criteria in judging the candidates relative to one another that go beyond stats, such as age relative to level and the like. Just don't pick, say, a top 10 prospect over an org guy based solely on that. Voting for this poll will close Wednesday at 2:00 pm. 3B Rafael Devers (GRE): 24 G, 105 PA, 36 H, 10 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 22 R, 16 RBI, 5 BB, 17 K, 1 CS, .364/.394/.576 SS Javier Guerra (GRE): 23 G, 93 PA, 24 H, 8 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 14 R, 13 RBI, 12 BB, 29 K, 4 SB, 1 CS, .308/.402/.513 C Ben Moore (GRE): 14 G, 60 PA, 22 H, 5 2B, 1 3B, 10 R, 4 RBI, 3 BB, 8 K, 2 SB, .393/.424/.518 CF Blake Tekotte (POR): 28 G, 105 PA, 26 H, 4 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR, 10 R, 13 RBI, 9 BB, 16 K, 1 SB, 2 CS, .286/.371/.473 1B/3B Jantzen Witte (POR): 29 G, 127 PA, 34 H, 11 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 15 R, 16 RBI, 14 BB, 15 K, 1 CS, .312/.394/.486 Full May stats

Wow, Ben Moore was shockingly good this month. But had to give it to Devers do to the 10 more games and 45 more PAs.

Would love to hear the reasoning of the Guerra votes. Factoring in defense I guess?

Would love to hear the reasoning of the Guerra votes. Factoring in defense I guess? Should of made Devers the only option, with the other 4 guys as honorable mentions.

Would love to hear the reasoning of the Guerra votes. Factoring in defense I guess? I'm not sure I'm gonna vote for him, but I can make a case ... beats Ben Moore because he has 50% more PAs, he's the only OBP north of .400 from the rest of the group, and he sports +500SLG as a shortstop and is only second to Devers on that (essentially tied with the aforementioned Moore). That's a pretty good month! You could easily make a case for his offensive line to be in the same general ballpark as Devers (the slightly better OBP making up in part for the lesser SLG), but he's a shortstop.

To add to that reasoning (still voted for Devers though), Guerra had nearly as many XBH in a few less PA's, but more walks plus the SB's. I think the K's wash out the BB's for me, which puts Devers ahead IMO.

Yeah, in the end I went with Devers because ~15% K rate beats a 30%+ K rate by enough to cancel out any positional adjustment and SB credit I want to give Guerra.
But, a vote for Guerra's totally defensible.

Guerra had an outstanding month. #2 for me just as clearly as Devers is number 1 for me (although Moore gets about as close to Guerra as a catcher can reasonably get).
To me, Devers clearly has the better line, but I guess it is closer when you factor in Guerra's all-world defense versus Devers's adequate D.

To add to that reasoning (still voted for Devers though), Guerra had nearly as many XBH in a few less PA's FWIW, PA/XBH: Guerra - 1 every 8.45, Devers - 1 every 7.5. I realize that this discussion is theoretical and everything, of course. Just saying - in a sample size this small, 3 more XBH in 12 PA is actually significant.
