So there's a lot of discussion of some of these guys elsewhere, but I wanted some of the less-heralded players to get their due, too. Is this infield legit? I mean, is it too early to start dreaming? Devers is one thing, Moncada another. Chavis has had his struggles, but still has five bombs and is pretty young. But Javy Guerra?! I knew he had some pop, but he just hit dinger #5 tonight. I wish he'd walk more, but he's young and hitting over .300, and is a terrific defender. And Dubon is a pretty good defender at SS and he's stuck playing 2b, and he's over .300 with a few walks and 15 steals. I genuinely can't remember a Sox minor league team *ever* with this kind of positional talent, and I'm crossing my fingers that with Kopech, they eclipse the 2005 Seadogs team for overall talent (which would be admittedly pretty tough).

Quick visual view of the ages of the top prospects on the team (each line's a month, gets younger as you go):
Average SAL hitter
Dubon
Moncada
Chavis Guerra Longhi
Kopech
Devers

Gotta love the combination of youth and generally solid to better performance. I hold out hope that Kopech can develop a third pitch, because the triple-digit FB and solid curve is a great start. And the Dubon-Guerra combo is notable for their pretty impressive offensive-defensive skill sets. Devers is Devers (nice to see his ISO climbing even if his OBP isn't yet), and Moncada is still just getting his feet wet, but I'm curious to see what that team looks like by the end of the year. There's going to be some promotions, for sure...question is who and when.
Old for the league but new to the mound: Williams Jerez, who has basically been piggybacking, has impressive control, and is getting a lot of Ks for a guy with very, very little mound exposure. Intriguing player...if he makes Salem at the end of the year, he could still be on target for MLB at 25. Good pitcher's build, slightly above-avg FB for a lefty, and with a lot of room to improve.

Amazing how young but extremely talented they are. Didn't realize Longhi was younger than Chavis and Guerra. Def fun team to watch defense and offense. They have made circus plays and catches all year long and I mean all of them! Even MLB Would be impressed!

Didn't realize Longhi was younger than Chavis and Guerra. He's not younger than Guerra, but their birthdays are all less than two months apart, so they're all pretty much the same age.

This thread almost...................almost makes me wish I still lived in the Charlotte, NC area and was only 90 minutes away from Greenville. I would have loved to have followed this team all over the Carolinas. Very talented young infield. I've seen Kopech last year, but it would be great to see how much he has progressed.
Lived in the Charlotte area for 28 years and just 4 years in the Bradenton/Sarasota area, and as much as it would be a blast to follow those kids....I'm glad to be here.....waiting for the GCL to start!

I'm planning g a trip to be in Greenville for two games weekend after next. Second visit to that beautiful city and to Flour Field. Also will swing by Salem to catch a game and wind up in Charlotte to see the PawSox vs Charlotte Knights at the new downtown stadium. My son lives in Charlotte and is a big a Sox fan as I.

That does sound great! Flour Field is a great place to watch a game. I still haven't had the opportunity of seeing the new ball park in Charlotte. My ex-partner tells me it is beautiful, and I can see by photos it is a humdinger (is that still a word?). I was planning on doing it this summer, but with my wife doing chemo....it will have to wait. No traveling for us until her immune system improves. That backdrop in Charlotte is gorgeous. Have a wonderful time.
