Projo had an article on JBJ yesterday. Pretty good read. Mentioned he's closed his stance and is keeping his lower half quiet. Allowing him to stay off that inside pitch off the plate. He wouldn't be the first prospect whom was rushed and failed. Went back down and worked at it. And, eventually succeeded. www.providencejournal.com/article/20150613/SPORTS/150619636/14009/?Start=1

At least Henry is pitching well today......Henry Owens 6.0 4 1 1 1 7 0 3.45 That should be a day. Almost 100 pitches. Only run was an RBI single by VMart on rehab. Like to see that one walk while still striking out 7.

Like to see that one walk while still striking out 7. There's about a 15% chance of a guy with his walk rate having a start like this just at random, so he needs to do this a few more times not just to show us that he can sustain whatever he may be dong right now, but just to demonstrate that there is in fact something that fits that description. But obviously this is still encouraging.

Trey Ball has set a new Salem sox high 15.2 consecutive scoreless innings Ball out after 4 innings: 4IP 2H 0R 3BB 3K; 6GO/2AO Not as good as the last time (3 BB), but a solid outing. As for Owens, I'm actually pretty happy with his season so far, if the reports are accurate. He's deliberately de-emphasizing his CH for his CB and SL, and he's not getting his head bashed in. That's pretty good development work. He has less control over those pitches, so he'll walk more guys doing this than he would going with his normal pitching pattern.

There was a thunderstorm in Salem. Ball went out to start the 5th. Walked the leadoff hitter and he was a couple of pitches into the 2nd batter when they delayed the game. In his last 6 starts, he's given up 0 runs 4x, 1 run once and 4 in the other. I'm hoping Eric comes by with some statistical correlation that indicates he's about to become Sandy Koufax www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=640441#/career/R/pitching/2015/ALL

Williams Jerez with another good outing @ Salem, maybe there is a bullpen arm there for the future, he certainly seems to have some swing and miss stuff at least based on his outings @ Greenville and Salem. For a low ranked guy, he's at least trying to reposition himself. Hopefully a start in Portland next year and then maybe......
And also, what appears to be another good outing by Jonathon Aro w. PawSox, he's also demonstrated some swing and miss stuff with his short season so far.
Maybe, going forward, we have some young bullpen arms to count on (Light, Jerez, Aro, maybe Diaz..)

Greenville is tied in the bottom of the 10th with runners at 1st and 3rd and two outs for Longhi.
Savannah lost, so a win would put Greenville one game ahead with seven to go.
EDIT: On to the 11th.

Chaz, good stuff on the Pawtucket updates. Some encouraging tweets about Craig, Light, Johnson, and Owens. I love what Boston is doing with Owens. Having him throw his CB/SL more frequently and relying less on his CH. Let him incorporate those pitches before mixing everything in and becoming a complete pitcher. His numbers (outside of BB totals) are meaningless to me, I'd like to see Owens spend the entire year in AAA (regardless of how bad the major league team is doing) barring a September call up. If he can work on his control, there's a chance that Owens, Johnson, and Rodriguez all break the 2016 rotation (yes, unfortunately I'm thinking that far down the road already).

Glad to see that Jordan Weems is back to Salem lineup. He's been out for a long time (last game he played was in the 1st of May)
