Hadn't noticed that Jagger Rusconi played his first game in the field yesterday, and was at second base. He's back there again today.
If that is, in fact, where he's going to play, then a) the "why the hell are they drafting so many outfielders?" thing from the draft makes more sense and b) the GCL roster construction makes more sense.
On the other hand, if he's playing there because the GCL roster construction was so poor and a) they need him to and b) that's the only way to get him and all the outfielders at-bats, then that's just horrible planning.
I get the feeling it's the former though. BA said that his future was probably at second, and it seemed weird for them to announce a shortstop as an outfielder.

Meanwhile, Kevin Steen so far:
First four batters: single to center; F9; E6; double to right Then a passed ball to the fifth batter allowed the second run to score. Then the next five batters: Ks; Ks; Ks; Ks; Ks

Jagger: 2-3, 2B, K
Noviello subbed in for Fisher and got his first pro AB.

Looks like someone else will be taking the bump for Pawtucket. Johnson called up to the Red Sox, per MacPherson

Can't wait to see what Johnson does in the Bigs. He is more then ready and looks to have a bright future. One of the most underrated players in the minors.

So I see that Greenville has absolutely killed the ball tonight, go to the box score to salivate over another dominant performance by Moncada -- and see 0 for 5 with the Golden Sombrero.
Let's just cut him now.

Cecchini was hitting .187 / .262 / .280 on July 6 (272 PA).
In the four subsequent games, he is 11/19, HR, BB, 2 GDP (.579 / .600 / .737).
I'm curious as to the mixture of hard contact and luck ...
Garin Cecchini singles on a soft fly ball to center fielder Aaron Altherr. Garin Cecchini singles on a sharp line drive to right fielder Tyler Henson. Garin Cecchini singles on a soft ground ball to second baseman Cord Phelps. Garin Cecchini singles on a line drive to left fielder Jordan Danks. Garin Cecchini strikes out on a foul tip.
Garin Cecchini singles on a soft line drive to left fielder Jordan Danks. Garin Cecchini singles on a line drive to center fielder Aaron Altherr. Garin Cecchini grounds into a double play, first baseman Russ Canzler to shortstop Edgar Duran. Garin Cecchini flies out to center fielder Aaron Altherr. Garin Cecchini flies out to left fielder Tyler Henson. Garin Cecchini grounds out, second baseman Cord Phelps to first baseman Chris McGuiness. Garin Cecchini singles on a line drive to center fielder Jordan Danks. Garin Cecchini singles on a line drive to left fielder Tyler Henson.
Garin Cecchini grounds into a force out, first baseman Chris McGuiness to shortstop Edgar Duran. Garin Cecchini homers (6) on a fly ball to right center field. Garin Cecchini grounds into a double play, shortstop Edgar Duran to first baseman Chris McGuiness.
Five non-soft LD plus a HR versus one SO is good. A perfect 6/6 BABIP on LD, 3/8 on GB, and 1/3 on FB are all lucky, though.

So basically he just fluked into a few hits in four games despite still being just as brutal as he's been all season? Sounds like baseball. Is there something physically or psychologically wrong with Cecchini?

Is there something physically or psychologically wrong with Cecchini? Well, that's not quite right. He had as many HR as K's over those 4 games, so clearly he's seeing the ball better. He also had a few hard hit balls to back that theory up. Not saying he's BACK, but it's still an encouraging sign. On the other hand, they just weren't facing good pitching last night. Every player had a hit. Nava was 3/4, Craig was 4/5, Cecchini and Castillo had 2 each, and JBJ had a hit and a walk.

Cecchini rarely pulls the ball, so that HR is a good sign IMO.
