It is going to be down-right difficult to get my baseball "fix" today. No Boston and all those off-days and All-Star games is getting me depressed.

Today and tomorrow are the worst sports days of the year. They need to do the WBC finals (and semis?) during this stretch every three years.

DSL announced their all-stars...handful of Red Sox made it:
C Samuel Miranda (RS1) OF Lorenzo Cedrola (RS2) RHP Roniel Raudes (RS1) RHP Denyi Reyes (RS2)
Surprised Victor Garcia didn't make it, but all four all-stars deserved it.

Josh Pennington with a nice outing today
(W, 1-1) 4.0 4 0 0 2 4 0 0.82
of the 4 hits only one was extra (double)
Rusconi with 2 hits and one a triple.
This GCL team is a juggernaut. They win again 8 to 3.

By the way, Jaggar's mom said that Mick Jaggar was one of the reasons they went with that name. They call him Jag by the way. I asked her if they had any other boys, and she mentioned they have an older boy who is 24. I asked his name, and she said his name was, I think, Nicolai. I told her that was great but didn't she think in hindsight that a name like "Sting" would be cooler. Her and Jag's dad did laugh (thank goodness).
Forgot to mention this. I asked the parents how he was getting along with the other kids and they said he liked everyone really well.....and especially his roommate Logan Allen. They said Logan will be making his debut Monday coming.

I think it's safe to say that Yoan Moncada has settled in low A!

I think it's safe to say that Yoan Moncada has settled in low A! I would still let him mash for a while and have him build confidence before moving him up a level. HRs in back to back games is great, but he's still been K'ing a good amount. I just hope he keeps it up.

Yeah, I wasn't saying promote him now and I also agree that his K rate is the only thing that someone like Pete Abrahams could use to critisize his performance so far but that's OK with me. I don't know if those contact "issues" are the result of pitch recognition or lack of bat to ball skills but both could be explained by rust and being away from competitive baseball for a long period of time. Anyway, I think we can't attest that till we get Chris and Ian scouting reports and see what he can do after a full off season and a spring training next year.

Lots of easy power. Very short stroke, hardly any extension, all wrist, but the ball still leaves the park.

With guys built like Moncada especially, I love the compact stroke. Didn't even look like he made that good of contact, but it found its way out. A few of those each year would be nice.

Jose Gonzalez with a nice outing for the DSL RS2 yesterday....4.1 IP, 3H, R(0ER), 6K. It's pretty crazy how young he is: he won't turn 17 until July 20. That would make him the second youngest in the organization behind Keibert Petit (17 on August 3).

So Jalen Beeks went 8 innings last night. I can't remember the last time a guy that low in the system got to go that deep into a game (when he wasn't an older guy signed out of the indy leagues or something).
