Javier Guerra may need promotion. Too good to stay in Greenville. Yeah. Not so sure that Marrero isn't the one blocking the path of the rest of the SS prospects in the system. I'd personally rather see Hernandez given the shot at Pawtucket for awhile after Marrero goes back down and Lin at Portland. Also want to see how both Dubon and Lin do at Salem.. But one would have to move off the position. Was written here (or was it at WEEI perhaps?) that the Sox should maybe attempt to turn Marrero into another Holt type player. That's the only way I see him being useful as a future MLB'er, though he has to learn to use the glove at other positions than SS/2b and learn to hit a bit better.

As if we need another DSL pitcher to watch and dream on, Darwinzon Hernandez, 6'2, 180 lb. LHP from Venezuela.
Last year, age 17, 28 IP, 15 SO, 19 BB, 4 HB, 24 H, and somehow a 2.89 ERA despite a 4.59 FIP. 7 of the 35 runners who reached and failed to score in those 28 IP were erased on GDP (even though his GB% appears to have been around 52%), and the 18 hits (.270 BABIP) were 16 singles and 2 doubles.
This year, first 6 G (3 GS), 17.2 IP, 13 SO, 14 BB, 3 HB, 18 H, and somehow a 2.04 ERA (and 3.06 RA) despite a 4.69 FIP and .340 BABIP (!). 29 hitters reached base and failed to score in those 17.2 IP, and only 4 were erased on plays that are counted (2 by GDP and 2 by CS). Again, his GB% was fractionally over 50%.
Last 18 IP, 18 SO, 6 BB, 0 HB, 18 H, 2.00 ERA. GB% a nice .566. Still hasn't given up a pro HR.
That's such a dramatic improvement in control that he's certainly worth watching.

Nice to see Pat Light with a clean 9th and K. He's really been scuffling pretty bad as of late. Hopefully just a simple mechanical correction and he can get back on track.
