I like it. Depends on the PTBNL obviously, but he was excellent in 2012 and 2013.

I actually love Ryan Cook. Why not take him Because he's arb eligible, out of options and we already have three thousand bullpen arms. The good news is that we have two open 40-man spots.

Well arbitration won't be too friendly to him, and we could still ditch him next month if necessary, so we'll see. He's lost a tick this year and some control. i hope we find a mechanical error and correct it, because he could be a very solid 6th or 7th inning guy going forward if so. Robbie Ross also has seemed a little sharper lately with his off speed stuff. Could just be a small streak where he's locked in, or maybe he's reverted back to his solid MRP days.

I have to ask.. What's wrong with Cook? Lost a tick off his velocity this year and only pitched 4 games.. Does he have a time bomb attached to his right elbow or something?

Actually, checking through history, it appears that Cook may have one option left (2011, 2015). No matter, he's a likely non-tender candidate after the season.

He's likely to get between $1.5m and $2m in arbitration next year, which is next to nothing, especially if they're not bound by the luxury tax threshold. If they were willing to give Breslow $2m coming off his 2014 season, there's a good chance they'll give Cook the same courtesy, especially since arbitration salaries are not guaranteed and Cook can be released during 2016 spring training and only owed 30 days' salary termination pay.

But it makes no sense to name him as PTNL, instead of trading him on the 31st. Now he has to go through waivers. The PTNL is looking like someone else. A's are at 38 on the roster. Who knows sometimes.
