July 2015 Pitcher of the Month
|
Post by Chris Hatfield on Aug 4, 2015 15:15:20 GMT -5
Please vote above for the pitcher you felt had the best month, and discuss your selection below in the thread! You may use almost any criteria you wish in judging each player's month. The one exception is that we ask that voters ignore a player's prospect status - in other words, please don't vote for a player based on the fact that you think he will be a better major league player down the road. However, to be clear, you may use other criteria in judging the candidates relative to one another that go beyond stats, such as age relative to level and the like. Just don't pick, say, a top 10 prospect over an org guy based solely on that. Voting for this poll will close Thursday at 3 pm. SP Anderson Espinoza (GCL): 4 GS, 0-1, 16.0 IP, 1.69 ERA, 11 H, 4 R/3 ER, 6 BB, 11 K, 6.20 G/F, 1.06 WHIP RP Kyle Kraus (SAL/POR): 6 G, 1-0, 20.0 IP, 0.45 ERA, 14 H, 3 R/1 ER, 5 BB, 11 K, 2.46 G/F, 0.95 WHIP SP Henry Owens (PAW): 5 GS, 1-2, 31.2 IP, 2.84 ERA, 25 H, 11 R/10 ER, 8 BB, 34 K, 1.73 G/F, 1.04 WHIP SP/PBS Kevin Steen (GCL): 4 G, 1-1, 16.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 16 H, 8 R/5 ER, 1 BB, 18 K, 0.69 G/F, 1.02 WHIP SP/PBS Ben Taylor (LOW/GRE): 6 G, 0-1, 21.0 IP, 2.57 ERA, 19 H, 6 R/6 ER, 5 BB, 26 K, 1.47 G/F, 1.14 WHIP July 2015 stats

Honorable mention to Teddy Stankiewicz as the only other pitcher that got much consideration.

The above list has only the players we need to think about for this and Chris's link has stats neatly lined up but for all the players in the system (although those above are all on the first page). I find a combination of the two is easier to look at. If others find this sheet useful, I'll do it regularly. Edit: Right after I posted that I noticed a formatting error where a couple of the W-L records magically turned into dates. If you got there first and saw that, it's fixed.

Henry gets my nod with31.2 IP, a third more than the closest competitor. His K/BB numbers were impressive also for the month.
