In DSL2, this is Victor Garcia's rotation spot, but he didn't pitch last week. We'll see if he just got skipped or may be hurt based on if he pitches today.

Sean Coyle with 2 more K's (so far) today. That's 8K's in 16 AB's in his GCL rehab stint (pretty sure my math is right). That cannot be a good sign. He didn't even get 1 of the 8 BB's in the first 6 innings of today's game.
GCL Sox up, mid-6th, 6-1 on 3 hits (to be fair, 2 by Coyle), 8BB's and 2 Rays errors.

Wondering why Benintendi, Devers, Moncada and Guerra have not all been promoted by now?

Wondering why Benintendi, Devers, Moncada and Guerra have not all been promoted by now? So they don't get promoted to the majors too fast, slump, and have everyone clammoring for them to be dealt for Cole Hamels, maybe.

Devers is still only 18, he's already at Low A, and he's hitting .283/.318/.439. Since June 1 it is .236/.275/.404. They may promote him to get a look at High A going into next season, but competition-wise the SAL seems like an appropriate challenge for him.

I can see the logic behind keeping Yoan in GVL till the end of the season: After all, it's his first season in US professional baseball, he went from XST to low A ball and maybe they don't want him to have to adapt to 3 different levels of competition in his 1st season. They can speed things up next year. What's the rush?

Devers is a nice prospect with nice tools and raw power having a decent year and everything, but he's putting up relatively pedestrian numbers in Greenville. I'm not trying to knock his prospect status at all (although I'm a bit lower on him than some), I know scouts love him and I think the power will come, but a .158 ISO and .283 average doesn't scream "promote me now" for a bat-first prospect.

After allowing the first inning homerun to Den Dekker, Cuevas has been really impressive. Locating all his pitches well, and doing a good job coming back when he's down 2-0 or 3-0.
