Jeffry Fernandez had previously been announced as the Drive starter. Looks like he's being skipped, maybe.

Nice going for Raudes! Another arm in the low minors to keep an eyeball on. Some really nice international signings the last couple of years that just keep on producing.

Anyone know how to pronounce Roniel Raudes ? Yeah....it looks good having him and Anderson on our GCL team. Exciting. I see Roldani Baldwin hit his 3rd homer today. He has had a few botches from his transition from catcher to third, but he is built solidly and can put a charge into the ball. I for one am following him closely. One to watch!

Great start for Haley today. Listened to some of the game on the radio and was hearing a lot of 93's on the gun. If I recall he was down in the high 80's earlier this year. The announcer talked about how he liked how aggressive he was being with the fastball as well...was throwing it even after getting ahead and coming right at guys.

FWIW, Baldwin played more 3B than C in the DSL as well, so I wouldn't call it a transition.

Raudes: 5IP 3H 0ER 1BB 3K His K/BB ratio has cratered from 21.0 in DSL to 5.0 in GCL.

Raudes: 5IP 3H 0ER 1BB 3K His K/BB ratio has cratered from 21.0 in DSL to 5.0 in GCL. Also, he has never gone less than 5 innings in his two GCL starts....Espinoza has never gone past 4. Raudes > Espinoza

More and different internal looks at him, probably. He sucked at GCL rehab and they don't want to expose him to upper-level pitching yet.

Yeah that's pretty common. They did the same thing with Henry Ramos earlier this season. Agree that allowing the decisionmakers in Boston to get a look at him close by probably plays into it.

I would just interject one thought into this lively repartee: Maybe we ought to temper our thinking about Espinoza just a bit, if only because his short outings basically never require him to go through the lineup a 3rd time yet. Then again, he is a high school junior equivalent.

Nice to see Pimentel having fairly solid outings on a continual basis. Without looking at my notes from start witnessed last month.. His FB sits 92-4, fairly loose slider and gets pretty weak contact from hitters.
Would like to see him spend last month in Lowell against a bit more advanced hitters.

Hmm.. As in mold of Alexander Stevens, or Benjamin Harrison?
The Whig Party had some.. Lets say "odd" ideals.

Just saw Roniel Raudes had 63 Ks and just 3 BBs in the DSL, somehow I missed it until now.
I'm well aboard the Roniel Maddux hype train now.

I was just the last couple of days reading sections of The Rise and Fall of the Whig Party by Michael Holt. I have a section about Henry Clay, one of the Whig Party founders, in a book I am writing about progressivism. Some of his ideas (which he borrowed from Alexander Hamilton) are similar to some of those of Sanders and other progressives.

True. Too bad they don't have him throwing complete games so he can help teach his teammates what it's like to win.
