No make it to The Fort the rest of this week either as planned.. Wife vac days cancelled..
Looks like no more trips this season, unless somehow meet up with GCL Tigers here in Lakeland in a PO game, or series.

they have DSL standings on MiLB.com too. There are two teams tied for second, but yes, if both the Cubs and Mets2 lose and Red Sox2 win, they'll clinch today. Would play either Giants, Yankees2, Astros Blue, or Blue Jays in round 1. (5 division winners and a WC. 2 top division winners get a bye.) www.milb.com/standings/index.jsp?sid=milb&lid=130&period=(By the way, apologies to all for the standings here being messed up for DSL2. We're fixing it.) ----- Elsewhere, the Spinners are 1.5 back in both the division and wild card with 19 to play. The GCL Sox lead their division by 6 with 9 to play.

Yoan Moncada's stolen base rate is the most important story in sports this year.

Allen: 4IP 3H 1ER 0BB 6K (two of the three hits were of the infield variety).
Jalen Williams piggybacking, which lines up De Jesus to start tomorrow.

I'd completely missed this. The SAL uses halves. Savannah won the first half in the Southern Division and is leading the second as well. If the same team (here, Savannah) wins both halves, then the team with the next-best overall season record makes the playoffs. With me so far? In the overall Southern Division standings, Savannah obviously leads. Then Asheville is up half a game on Augusta and Greenville for second. www.milb.com/standings/index.jsp?lid=116Therefore, Greenville's also in a dogfight for a playoff spot.

Looks like DSL RS2 lost, while the Mets2 won and the Cubs lost. The RS2 are one game up with two games to play.

Good news is Moncada got his 40th SB tonight.
Also, wow for someone who is plus plus defensively Guerra has 26 errors? That's a lot.

Yes, it is true that the SAL uses the discredited "next-best overall season record" method to choose the 2nd playoff team (if the same team wins both halves).
MLB originally announced that method in 1981, the 2 halves season. When they discovered the flaw, they switched away from it to "2nd best 2nd half record".
Here is the problem: Greenville plays Savannah in the final series of the season. If Asheville is about to win the second half, Greenville has an incentive to lose vs. Savannah, allowing Savannah to win both halves, pushing it to overall record, where Greenville beats Asheville. In theory.
DISCREDITED. I cannot believe they actually use that method.

40 SB is pretty damn impressive, especially when being caught so few times. What do scouts now say he might steal in the majors?

What it at least says to me is that both of them have good baserunning instincts, but Moncada is also scouted as very fast.

I don't know that it means that Moncada has great instincts-- he could just be fast enough to overcome his lack of instincts. He was likely slower due to his youth, but his aggregate SB/CS in Cuba was a much more pedestrian 21/11. I don't think he'll be an elite base-stealer like an Ellsbury, but I'd wager he'll be good for 30ish SBs a year, maybe a few with 40+.
