SAD day. Going to miss you all! As a favor, I'd like Beni to hit another tater today so I can last until next spring.

Yes, thanks. This continues to be a strong source of information and opinion, as well as hope for the future.

Hell of a season:
- Margot and Devers didn't light up the scoreboard per se, but scouts are still in love with them.
- We likely got the best player in the draft
- Moncada lived up to the hype
- Espinoza could be the game's best pitching prospect once Urias and Giolito are called up.
- JBJ came back up and raked, while Mookie and Bogaerts are now top 50 position players.
- ERod came up and held his own, looks like a #2 starter eventually to this internet poster
- Sam Travis and Guerra have broken out
- Brian Johnson was consistently good before being injured
- Even Shaw is having his share of fun in the sun
Our farm made a last place finish feel like one of the better seasons since we won the WS in 2007. Cheers to that

I'd add Kopech to one of the big breakouts of this year. I expect some good things from him next year in Salem.
But as good as the farm system is right now, I actually think this year was kind of a mixed bag. Chavis had struggles, none of the pitching really broke out in Salem or Portland (and Ball had a bad season), Wendell Rijo didn't progress that well, Cosart didn't get great results, Whitson seemingly had an injury all year, Marrero had kind of a 'meh' year, Cecchini and Coyle confirmed our worst fears ...
This is the way it goes, though. It's probably a testament to the pipeline that there is so much good talent while still going through the normal prospect churn.

This was a great season for good prospects becoming great prospects, but not a great season for fair prospects becoming good prospects.
I'll take that trade off.

It appears that Margot may have figured out AA. Counting his 2 for 4 so far today, he had hit .419 in his last 11 games.
Also is Cuevas a call up candidate? He seems to be trying to become one.

NYPL: West Virginia wins 8-2, clinching the wildcard. This eliminates State College. Staten Island and Aberdeen each play later to determine the division winner.

Bases are loaded, down 4-2, with two outs in the 9th.
Jerry Downs is at bat, in his first SAL game.

Monge draws a walk to load the bases. Downs to the plate, 4-2, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs. Can't make this up.
