I don't see any scenario barring an injury that Vazquez doesn't start out in Pawtucket. I do. It involves Swihart being traded for someone like Fernandez or Sale. Word is they've explored that, though. It would take Betts or Bogaerts and Swihart + prospects. Just doln't see that happening. Perhaps there's a deal to be made for a top tier #2 that has Swihart headlining. I think he's in Boston to start the year anyway. Nothing wrong with CVaz in Pawtucket getting more reps.

Dude, come on, this startled the crap out of me. You have to highlight the fact that this is a made-up trade proposal from Jon Heyman.

That would easily ruin this team in 3 years. Makes me mad even thinking about it.

They either need to change WAR for relief pitchers or come up with a different $/WAR calculation for relief pitchers. How do pitchers like Qualls and Motte get 2/$12 million? Is that a "please come to Denver" premium?

My little heart can't take that I saw this last night on MLB....I was waiting for Heyman's follow up on his reasoning as they did with a few other mock trades on Fernandez. He never did & they went to commercial. I'm not sure how much these guys really know about any particular minor league system. They just pick 1,2,3,4 top prospects & say this would be a good trade.

No doubt. Only teams that could match that package are Cubs and Astros. Maybe Dodgers. Nobody would though. That's 3 years of a Cy Young Candidate for like 25 of potential all stars.

I wouldn't trade Mookie Betts straight up for Fernandez Neither would I. Mookie looks like a 6 win player with 5 years of control to me. No reason to trade that for a potential 6 win (doubtful really based on innings limit) pitcher who has 3 remaining years and is coming off TJS.

Curious: Would anyone here trade Espinoza straight up for Fernandez? Is there anyone who wouldn't? NB: Well, at least if it didn't cost Steven Wright

It is really amazing how bad guys like Heyman and Rosenthal are at understanding value in baseball without having it spoon fed to them by some assistant GM.

Jack Magruder @jackmagruder Hearing #RedSox may be in play in Shelby Miller derby. Also #Dodgers, #Cubs as Ken Rosenthal reported.
