That's disappointing; was hoping he'd have a real shot at breaking Bonds' record. At least he'll surpass that bum Babe Ruth. Oh well, here's to Mike Trout breaking it in ~15 years.

I was hoping his contract would never end and that he'd still be costing the Yankees $25 million a year when he's 58 years old.

I don't think Mike Trout will come close to breaking those HR records.

That part would have been really nice too, although 25 million in 20 years is going to be what pre-arb players are earning.
EDIT: As for Mike Trout, yeah probably not, but his current pace puts him right around there if he maintains it until age 40ish. Guess it mostly depends if he develops even more power and can knock out a few 50+ HR seasons at some point to counteract his later down-years. He and Harper are the only realistic shots right now.

With the voodoo magic they have down there in the Bronx, he'd be OPSing in the low .700.

It will all depend on how baseball evolves over that period of time. There might be too much expansion and smaller parks. It's pretty hard to imagine anyone averaging 40 HR a year for 20 years. And if a team could possibly sign one of those guys for like 15 years, it would be smart to tailor the park to their strengths. Imagine what Ted Williams would have done in Yankee Stadium without the wars. Probably 1000 HR.

It's insane how A-Rod still holds the two largest contracts besides Stanton in baseball history, signed in 2001 and 2008....

He just wants some semblance of a farewell tour, as tainted as it clearly would be. He's a classic narcissist. He wants whatever attention he can get. My bet he then unretires and signs a 1 year deal with the Marlins.

A-Rod's combination of shortstop skills and triple crown-level hitting ability was unreal. I doubt I'll ever see something like it again.

I hope arod tests positive for another banned substance on his last lap of his farewell tour. Would be the perfect "send off."

Carlos Correa is not A-Rod and he wouldn't be if he took a dump truck full of steroids.

Wall Street JournalVerified account @wsj Alex Rodriguez really will retire after 2017. Unless he doesn’t. But he definitely might. on.wsj.com/21JEKvp

Way too early to think either player has a chance. You also have to factor in injuries over a 20 year career. I just don't see Bonds record being broken anytime soon without steroids.

Carlos Correa is not A-Rod and he wouldn't be if he took a dump truck full of steroids. Although I don't think he will be Arod, he has triple crown potential with short stop potential skills. That's what he was describing. He has to improve defensively though.
