55.2% of Benintendi's batted ball have been FB (Pop ups excluded) or LD. 56.7% for Moncada, who has 0 pop ups on the year. Ridiculous.

Am I to infer that this is what scouts mean by "barreling up the ball?" That's some quality contact right there. Throw in that Beni has more 3B (and walks) than Ks, and wow...Sox have themselves a hitter, there. And Moncada actually looking like he might be threatening 100 steals? Zoinks, Scoob.

Chris (Boston): In two years Do you see Espinoza being were Urias is now. ie. Being the top left handed prospect in the game? Ben Badler: I could see him becoming the top pitching prospect in baseball, but if he starts pitching with his left arm, that would really be something. BB is pretty high on Benintendi and Devers, too. www.baseballamerica.com/minors/ba-prospects-chat/#5cg17g3o7FKjV3Lw.99

Isn't worried about Devers.

A wry wit without condescension is a great thing...too bad Keith Law hasn't figured it out yet.

From that video: His curveball looks really sharp when he gets it down and will seriously play off his fastball

Some tough luck for Espinoza, 2 IF hits and Monge dropped a running catch.

The 2 bad outings he got were when Nunez was catching him, as soon as he got Rei back, he returned to his dominant self. Austin Rei got himself a career as the personal catcher of a future hall of famer.

If you look at his hit chart, Benintendi seems to be hitting a ton of balls right up the middle and not getting much in terms of results from it ( which is surprising but most of his balls up the middle have been fly balls ): mlbfarm.com/player.php?player_id=643217&position=

Salem canceled, boo that weather... And the PawSox with Elias (lined up with Owens). Portland won 2-1 behind ssome strong pitching by Wilkerson and Shepherd. Drive up 5-0 3rd. Matheny with a 3R HR. They have the heater on in the broadcast booth). Cold doesn't bother Anderson.

Anderson just struck out the side in the 4th on a nice variety of pitches (mostly fastballs). He now has 9Ks thru 4.

5th inning was interesting. BB, K, 3B, K, FB. Likely done, 11 Ks 1BB.
The triple was the first hit of the year for Fulmer who had gone 0 for 34. Apparently he only hits off hall of famers.
78 pitches 50 strikes.

Someday, Ashford Fullmer's going to be sitting in a bar, insisting to people that he once hit a triple off Anderson Espinoza.
