I was thinking of heading to Manchester this evening to watch the Sea Dogs play the Fisher Cats. Portland's roster doesn't look especially interesting; does anyone have suggestions for prospects I should watch for in particular? Thanks.

Williams Jerez, a Left Hander in the Bullpen is on the 40 man roster.

Marco Hernandez gets eaten up by a decently hard hit ground ball and they called it a hit, interesting scoring.

Owens walks the first batter he faces on 4 pitchs. I am SHOCKED! Yep. But he only has three hits allowed through six, but with five walks. Kind of maddening, isn't it? Owens really does seem like a Quad-A type at present (not by any means saying he can't be better than that in the future, so don't jump on me!) His ability to change speeds and work to hitters' weaknesses just seems to play up against... well, against the sort of hitters who are in Triple-A because they struggle against pitchers like Henry Owens. It's a tough place to be developmentally, both for the player and the team. It's often hard to make the necessary adjustments against players who don't force them - but, as we saw, throwing a player who has such a defined weakness against major league competition is tough to do, especially for a team in contention.

I wonder if they would ever consider a sort of shock therapy where he wouldn't be allowed to throw a single changeup during a game for like 5 starts. It could get pretty ugly and might create long-term psychological damage I realize, but he doesn't belong in the major leagues until he commands his fastball

Monge has dropped balls that were ruled hits in each of Espinoza's last 2 starts now

2nd: BB, 1B, BB, BB, FO, K - pulled 57 p, 27 strikes
You can hear the crowd on the broadcast freaking out over the strike zone.

This is the scene where Neo tries to leap to the next building but falls straight to the ground and everyone is like, "doesn't matter, no one makes it the first jump."

Benintendi is not in the Salem lineup today. I don't think they're resting him since they had yesterday off. Maybe...

Never mind, they're giving him 2 days off apparently.

Yeah it's actually pretty common for them to use an off day to get a guy two days off. Considering that he's started energy game so far, it's a well-deserved break.
But yeah, as one of the guys who projected yesterday as a potential call-up, I'm not going to judge you for wondering, that's for sure.

Rusney's three hits were a groundball double and two infield hits. Sigh.

Devers with 2 more pop ups tonight (was already at 13.6%). One reason why his BABIP is so low

The job Pimentel and Drehoff are doing out of the pen at Salem shouldn't go unnoticed. If you look closer, Drehoff's stats include one start. As the closer, he's been dominant (in spite of not striking out anyone today). Pimentel in set-up has been shut down.
Same topic Greenville. Glorius and Cosart get the press but Leclerc has been better in set up. Poyner is of course, flat out overmatching the league.
Moncada 2/4 with a 2B.
ADD: Portland's pitching staff has for the most part been keeping them in games. It's a tale of two extremes with pitchers either outperforming or underperforming expectations. The four primary unders in my mind are Buttery, Mercedez, Jerez and Wort. All four have shown flashes of what they could be but all four seem to have the wheels fall off the wagon to often. Stank, McAvoy and Haley seem relatively consistent.

Even his defensive metrics in left were probably fluky and not enough to raise his trade value to even salary dump territory. They weren't fluky, just too small a sample size to label him elite. I'm fairly confident he's a plus defender in CF, but he's just an OK 4th OFer until he learns to hit RHP to some degree. He's a sunk cost; you may as well keep him in AAA working on his hitting, and have him available as an up-and-down guy. He doesn't have to improve too much at the plate to become a good 4th OFer, so your hope is that he can assume that role when Chris Young's contract is up in 2018.

And here I thought getting traded would save us from all the misspellings of Ranaudo's name.
