3-1 counts with both Xander and Mookie against a guy that can't find the zone both are swinging at junk. Unreal. Calling the pitch Mookie swung at junk seems harsh. That was a pitch to drive. He just didn't square it up. It happens. TRIPLE! I think it was ball 4.

It was Farrell. Ortiz was running. prove it. HE did it on his own.... Hanley is swinging a hot bat I'm at the game man. I saw it and so did everyone else.

How many wins do you think the best manager gets a team? How many l's do you think the worst gets? All the stats I've seen have it in the single digits, and this isn't one of them. Single digits can potentially be a lot. For sure, but this isn't the game where a manager matters much. Sox may win, big papi just showed again that clutch hitting is real but not stat provable. Win or lose, if the starter gives up 5 early it's not on the manager.

I wish I could just live for a single day on Planet Hanley. He's a trip. I love watching Hanley try and use his head. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but its always interesting.

I actually think that was an error in execution more than anything.
The infield was in no position to field a good bunt there. If he executes, that's game over.
The problem is that it was a piss-poor bunt.

I knew Hanley has the lowest baseball IQ in baseball, but that surprised me. Jeez!

It just didn't roll far enough. If it had and Ortiz rumbled home, we would have had a win to remember. Too bad. I don't think Hanley had a bad idea at all.

I knew Hanley has the lowest baseball IQ in baseball, but that surprised me. Jeez! I don't mind the decision, but you have to know your strengths. Is Hanley even a competent bunter? I don't know honestly. Haven't really seen him try it. Something tells me that bunting, like many of the subtleties, is not Hanley's strong suit. EDIT: If Brock does that the postgame show is on.

Hope the Sox have a walk-off win in them because if they don't, with O'Sullivan pitching tomorrow, they might have a 3 game losing streak going, which is a comedown after the way the Sox creamed Oakland and Houston in the opener.

Let the players play; he saw something and went for it. Got zero problem with it.

Bunts should be banned from baseball. Maybe then the Sox will stop trying it.

Ump was not giving any close to pitches to Buchholz. Now THAT is a strike to Holt?

Feeling much better about that Springer AB now. Koji kind of struggled today.
