Somebody's going to be disappointed:
Brian MacPherson @brianmacp Ex-Red Sox farmhand Ryan Lavarnway was supposed to be at McCoy Stadium with Gwinnett this weekend -- but Gwinnett released him on Friday

Re: Boles on Owens: That's the type of clear measured direct communication one would expect from a MLB manager.

Boles on Owens : From a tweet by Brian MacPherson. I take a little issue with the sentence about not having a growth spurt. It does seem reasonable to me that someone who has put on more than 50 pounds since he was drafted would have an issue with figuring out his new body. I know it has been awhile, but it makes sense that it would take him longer to figure it out.

Owens has the change up working to open the game. 2 K's swinging.
Sam Travis just destroyed a hanging curveball for a 3 run homer in the first.

Good to see Sam Travis hit HRs in back to back games.

Somebody's going to be disappointed: Brian MacPherson @brianmacp Ex-Red Sox farmhand Ryan Lavarnway was supposed to be at McCoy Stadium with Gwinnett this weekend -- but Gwinnett released him on Friday It seems that not one person here ever got my point that Lavarnway's obvious intelligence and overall achievement level in life was a small factor in the POSSIBILITY he might actually end up being a mlb level catcher. Most of you said it was no factor at all. I disagreed. No one projected him to be an all star or even probably a starter. He was being written off here and I advocated he had a chance of making it. Which got conflated into supposedly me being his biggest fan. The only reason why "lavarnwayguy" was my name is because Chris asked me to change my name from "redsoxprospects" since it sounded like I could potentially be speaking for the forum when I was not. He said most people thought of me as the "lavarnwayguy" so I said just go with that. I never intended it as if I was his biggest fan or as some reason for me to be ridiculed every week over it. It's not a great disapointment to me if Lavarnway doesn't make it. He's made mlb minumum for a few years already and could probably retire already if he wanted to. As with any person in his situation I root for all of them.

I think it was more of a case of how incessant you were. Every day 2-3 posts saying the same thing over and over and over.

In Salem tonight to watch our favorite group of future All stars! Will be keeping a sharp lookout for a sulking Ben Cherington in the bleachers

What worries me a little is that it seems everyone in Salem is hitting extremely well. 6 guys in today's starting lineup hitting over .312. They are clearly loaded with talent but it's possible their numbers could also be skewed by facing weak pitching. I can't imagine being a A ball pitcher facing that lineup though.

The guys at the top of the Salem lineup are getting on base, stealing bases, creating havoc and the rest of the line up is seeing a lot of juicy fastballs. It's become a feeding frenzy.

I might put Doubon's performance in the same category of when Marrero was raking while hitting behind Mookie in AA.

Swihart first 21 versus last 5 game comparison:
88 PA, .218 / .254 / .256, 8 BB, 12 SO 20 PA, .429 / .600 / .714, 6 BB, 1 SO (6/14, 2B, HR)
Added 129 points to his OPS. This is more what we'd expect from a guy with his MLB finish last year, and if he keeps it up, he's a major trade chip this winter as we hoped.

Why would you be worried that everyone in the Salem lineup is hitting well? That shouldn't be something to be worried about. They're not in Lancaster anymore.

Both of Sam Travis' HRs were line shots to left, in Fenway they would have bounced off the wall so quickly he'd only have singles. I hope can save those shots for road games and steer toward right at home. I think Owens did what he was told, throw strikes. Anyone see Swihart's double in the 1st? it would normally be a single, but Blake must have noticed the OF slacking and he kept running. Does someone have video?
