With 78 games left & 41 of them in the Division the Sox need to start winning Division games. Hope it starts tonight.

Not sure where to link this and sorry if it has been posted elsewhere: espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/16656194/boston-red-sox-dh-david-ortiz-breakout-seasonLove this article because it has behind the scenes info. I am a man, and I am not afraid to admit it, but i think the tears are gonna flow when he has his last regular season at bat for us this year. He's been so important to our fortunes after all those years of nothing. He's been a real blessing to watch.

Love this and especially the Hill move to beef up the bench.

He's had OK offensive seasons at AAA in recent years (127 wRC+ this year, 123 last year, 67 (not a typo) and 113 the two years before that) and has a boatload of versatility (he's played all the non-C/1B positions in the majors). But he hasn't hit at all in the majors (career 38 wRC+), is old (turns 34 in September), looks to be out of options, and he's more of an adequate defender than a stud defender at any of his positions. You'd have to think that Holt and Hernandez are better utility options, right?

Than Horford? I'd think so. He won't need the options, however, from what I've heard about his contract terms.

So I'm not really buying that he's some Brock Holt-type. Rutledge, Hernandez and Lamarre are probably each better. Maybe he's a high character guy.

I think this move was made to let Hernandez be in Pawtucket playing everyday instead of being a bench player, which I think is a very good idea.

Ugly throw from Mookie, ends up costing them a run. He tried to throw it on the run and threw it into the ground. He really had time to stop and make a good throw.
