AB showed today he is not ready for prime time Ortiz went 0-3 with a K too. Guess he's not ready either.

Our hitters continue to make mediocre pitching look great. We totally should have won this game.

AB showed today he is not ready for prime time I wonder: can one infer more from one post than three at bats? Seems contradictory, but necessary.

“@jmastrodonato: Farrell said Ortiz started to stiffen up which is why they took him out of the game. Stiffness wasn’t in one area. ”General stiffness.“”

Putrid consistency from this team - road trip has them totally out of whack.

This is a very tired team at the end of an 11 game west coast swing, having to play 20 games in 20 days...and it is showing. Especially the position players who played in the AS game, who had to do coast to coast flights and got no down time.
We need Price to step up on Sunday so they can end the trip with a winning record and have the guys rest up on a rare, and very well deserved, off day on Monday.

Putrid consistency from this team - road trip has them totally out of whack. They are literally .500 on the west coast trip. If they win tomorrow, which they could because they have Price going, they're going to finish with a winning record. After playing a brutal stretch of 20 games in 20 days. Things are not perfect, sure, but that's actually not bad at all.

Toronto and Baltimore lost so we're not losing ground but damn, I got nervous everytime we're facing a pitcher with a mediocre track record.

But doesn't he drink coffee, smoke cigarettes, kick dogs, worship satan, say all my gods are false, steal food from poor children, cheat on online Call of Duty, call Keith Couch a non prospect, deal with ISIS, sell drugs in catholic schools, think Drake is a good rapper and move Blake Swihart to the OF?

E-Rod had his best FIP and second-best XFIP of his five starts since coming back up, but easily his worst Hard% and marginally (as a result) his worst BABIP. More importantly, his decidedly good karma with runners on abandoned him. The result was his worst outing by ERA.
He also stuck with his standard three pitches. He has yet to throw his cutter in these five starts, and he's only thrown a handful of sinkers (in his previous start). He has a 94 XFIP-, 87 FIP-, and 72 ERA- in this stretch. If they're waiting for him to get these three pitches down before having him work the other two back into his repertoire, I think he's nearly there. He's very likely to be even more effective when hitters have to think about the other two possibilities; and in general, a changeup is harder to tell from a two-seamer than a four-seamer, since they share the same spin axis.

“@timbritton: Ramirez’s wrist injury flared up. Sox not sure if he’ll be available. Ortiz was sore this morning but can pinch-hit.”
